³⁶ Master, which is the great commandment in the law? ³⁷ Then Jesus said to him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second is like to it, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." ⁴⁰ On these two commandments, the whole law and the prophets depend.

¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments.

¹³ But now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greater of these is love.

⁸ But above all things have fervent love towards each other: for love will conceal a multitude of faults.

¹⁹ We love him, because he first loved us.

¹⁸ Fear is not in this love; but the perfect love casteth out fear: for fear hath anguish. He that is afraid is not made perfect in love.

⁷ Beloved, let us love one another; because love is from God, and every one who loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

²⁵ Husbands, love your own wives, as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
