⁹ Thou shalt not drincke wyne & stronge dryncke, thou and thy sonnes that are wyth the: when ye go into the tabernacle of wytnesse, lest ye dye. Let it be a lawe for euer thorowe out youre generacyons,

²⁰ Kepe no company wt wyne bybbers & ryotous eaters of flesh: ²¹ for soch as be dronckardes & ryotous shall come to pouerte, & he that is geuen to moch slepe, shall go wt a ragged coate.

⁷ Go thou thy waye then, eate thy bred wyth ioye, and dryncke thy wyne with a glad hart, for thy workes please God.

²² Wo be vnto them, that are strong to suppe out wyne and experte men to sett vp dronckenesse.

¹¹ Wo be vnto them, that ryse vp early to folowe dronckennes, and to them that continue so, vntyll nyght, & tyl they be sett on fyre with wyne.

³⁴ The sonne of man is come, and eateth & drincketh, & ye saye: behold a gloutonous man, and an vnmeasurable dryncker of wyne, a frend of publicans and synners.

⁸ Lyke wyse must the mynisters be honest, not double tonged, not geuen vnto moch wyne, nether gredy of fylthy lucre:

¹⁹ The dedes of the flesshe are manyfeste, which are these: aduoutery, fornicacion, vnclennes, wantannes, ²⁰ worshypping of ymages, witchcraft, hatred, variaunce, zele, wrathe, stryfe, sedicyons, sectes, ²¹ enuyinge, murther, dronkennes, glottonye, and soche lyke: of the which I tell you before as I haue told you in tyme past, that they which commyt soch thinges shall not be inheritours of the kyngdome of God.

¹⁴ He bryngeth forth grasse for the cattell, and grene herbe for the seruice of men: ¹⁵ that he maye brynge fode out of the earth: and wyne that maketh glad the herte of man, and oyle to make him a chearfull countenaunce, and bred to strength mans herte.

⁶ And in this mountaine shal the Lord of hostes make vnto all people a feaste of plenteous & delicate thinges, euen of most pleasaunt & deyntie disshes. ⁷ And in this mountayne shall the Lorde destroie the couering, that all people are wraped in, and the hanging that is spred vpon all nacyons. ⁸ As for death, he hath destroyed it for euer. And the Lorde God shall wype awaye teares from all faces, and the rebuke of his people shall he take a waie out of all the earth. For so the Lorde hath sayde. ⁹ And in that daye it shalbe sayde: Lo, this is our God, we haue wayted for hym, & he shall saue vs. Thys is the Lord, in whom we haue hoped, we wylbe mery & reioyce in the saluation that commeth of hym.

¹ Come to the waters all ye, that be thursty, and ye that haue no money. Come, bye, that ye maye haue to eate. Come, bye wyne and mylck, wythout any money, or money worth.

¹⁸ For Iohn came nether eatynge nor drynkynge, & they saye, he hath the deuyll. ¹⁹ The sonne of man came eatyng and drynckyng, and they saye, beholde a glutton, & an vnmeasurable dryncker of wyne: and a frende vnto publicans and synners. And wisdome is iustifyed of her chyldren.

²¹ It is good nether to eate flesshe, nether to drinke wyne nether eny thynge, wherby thy brother stombleth, ether falleth, or is made weake.

²³ Dryncke no lenger water, but vse a lytell wyne for thy stommakes sake and thyne often dyseases.

²⁹ Who hath wo? Who hath sorow? Who hath strife? Who hath brauling? & who hath woundes without cause Or who hath reed eyes? ³⁰ Euen they that be euer at the wyne, & seke excesse. ³¹ Loke not thou vpon the wyne, how redd it is, & what a colour it geueth in the glasse. ³² It goeth downe softly, but at the last it byteth lyke a serpent, & styngeth as an Adder. ³³ So shall thine eyes loke vnto straunge wemen, & thyne herte shall muse vpon frowarde thynges. ³⁴ Yee, thou shalt be as though thou layest in the myddest of the see, or sleptest vpon the toppe of the mast of a shippe. ³⁵ They wouded me (shalt thou saye) but it hath not hurte me: they haue all to broken me, but I felt it not. Whan I am well wakened, I will go to the drincke againe.

¹ Wyne maketh a man to be scornefull: and stronge dryncke causeth a man to be vnquyete: who so delyteth therin, shall neuer be wyse.

⁹ Do ye not knowe, how that the vnryghteous shall not inheret the kyngdome of God? Be not deceaued. For nether fornicatours, nether worshyppers of ymages, nether aduoutrers, nether weaklynges, nether abusers of them selues wyth mankynde, ¹⁰ nether theues, nether couetouse, nether dronkardes, nether cursed speakers, nether pyllers, shall inheret the kyngdome of God. ¹¹ And soch were some of you, but ye are wasshed: but ye are sanctifyed: but ye are iustifyed by the name of the Lorde Iesus, & by the sprete of oure God.

Agaynst suche there is no lawe. ²⁴ They trulye that are Christes, haue crucifyed the flesshe with the affeccions and lustes. ²⁵ If we lyue in the sprete, let vs walke in the sprete.

¹⁸ and be not droncke with wyne wherin is excesse: but be fylled with the sprete,
