¹⁶ Vnto the woman he said, I will greatly increase thy sorowes, and thy conceptions. In sorowe shalt thou bring foorth children, and thy desire shalbe subiect to thine husband, and he shall rule ouer thee.

¹ A wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish destroyeth it with her owne handes.

¹³ A foolish sonne is the calamitie of his father, and the contentions of a wife are like a continuall dropping. ¹⁴ House and riches are the inheritance of the fathers: but a prudent wife commeth of the Lord.

²⁸ But I say vnto you, that whosoeuer looketh on a woman to lust after her, hath committed adulterie with her already in his heart.

³³ Therefore euery one of you, doe ye so: let euery one loue his wife, euen as himselfe, and let the wife see that shee feare her husband.

⁴ Mariage is honorable among all, and the bed vndefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will iudge.

⁷ Likewise ye husbands, dwel with them as men of knowledge, giuing honour vnto the woman, as vnto the weaker vessell, euen as they which are heires together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not interrupted.

²² Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as vnto the Lord.

²⁸ So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: he that loueth his wife, loueth him selfe.

¹ Likewise let the wiues bee subiect to their husbands, that euen they which obey not the worde, may without the worde be wonne by the conuersation of the wiues, ² While they beholde your pure conuersation, which is with feare. ³ Whose apparelling, let it not be that outwarde, with broyded heare, and golde put about, or in putting on of apparell: ⁴ But let it bee the hidde man of the heart, which consisteth in the incorruption of a meeke and quiet spirite, which is before God a thing much set by. ⁵ For euen after this maner in time past did the holy women, which trusted in God, tire them selues, and were subiect to their husbands.

¹⁹ It is better to dwell in the wildernesse, then with a contentious and angry woman.

¹⁰ Who shall finde a vertuous woman? for her price is farre aboue the pearles.

²² Wiues, submit your selues vnto your husbands, as vnto the Lord. ²³ For the husband is the wiues head, euen as Christ is the head of the Church, and the same is the sauiour of his body. ²⁴ Therfore as the Church is in subiection to Christ, euen so let the wiues be to their husbands in euery thing. ²⁵ Husbands, loue your wiues, euen as Christ loued the Church, and gaue himselfe for it, ²⁶ That hee might sanctifie it, and clense it by the washing of water through the worde, ²⁷ That hee might make it vnto him selfe a glorious Church, not hauing spot or wrinkle, or any such thing: but that it shoulde bee holy and without blame. ²⁸ So ought men to loue their wiues, as their owne bodies: he that loueth his wife, loueth him selfe. ²⁹ For no man euer yet hated his owne flesh, but nourisheth and cherisheth it, euen as the Lord doeth the Church. ³⁰ For we are members of his bodie, of his flesh, and of his bones. ³¹ For this cause shall a man leaue father and mother, and shall cleaue to his wife, and they twaine shalbe one flesh. ³² This is a great secrete, but I speake concerning Christ, and concerning the Church. ³³ Therefore euery one of you, doe ye so: let euery one loue his wife, euen as himselfe, and let the wife see that shee feare her husband.
