²⁶ For what shall it profite a man though he should winne the whole worlde, if hee lose his owne soule? or what shall a man giue for recompence of his soule?

⁵ All their workes they doe for to be seene of men: for they make their phylacteries broad, and make long the frindges of their garments, ⁶ And loue the chiefe place at feastes, and to haue the chiefe seates in the assemblies, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

⁸ Againe the deuil tooke him vp into an exceeding hie mountaine, and shewed him all the kingdomes of the world, and the glory of them, ⁹ And sayd to him, All these will I giue thee, if thou wilt fall downe, and worship me. ¹⁰ Then sayd Iesus vnto him, Auoyde Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him onely shalt thou serue.

⁹ For they that will be rich, fall into tentation and snares, and into many foolish and noysome lustes, which drowne men in perdition and destruction.

¹⁶ For all that is in this world (as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father, but is of this world.

¹² For whosoeuer will exalt himselfe, shall be brought lowe: and whosoeuer will humble himselfe, shalbe exalted.

³³ But seeke ye first the kingdome of God, and his righteousnesse, and all these things shall be ministred vnto you.
