⁵³ And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters which the LORD thy God hath given thee; in the siege and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall straiten thee.

¹⁶ Then Menahem smote Tiphsah, and all that were therein, and the borders thereof, from Tirzah: because they opened not to him, therefore he smote it; and all the women therein that were with child he ripped up.

¹³ For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.

⁶ slay utterly the old man, the young man and the maiden, and little children and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.

¹⁵ But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, [even] from my mother’s womb, and called me through his grace,

²⁹ So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

¹⁶ Samaria shall bear her guilt; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword; their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

¹⁴ And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

¹³ For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. ¹⁴ I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: wonderful are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. ¹⁵ My frame was not hidden from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. ¹⁶ Thine eyes did see mine unperfect substance, and in thy book were all [my members] written, which day by day were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

³ Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb is [his] reward. ⁴ As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. ⁵ Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

⁵ Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations.
