Psalms 19:1-14

1 To the Overcomer,
A Psalm of David.
¶ The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows the work of his hands. 2 One day provides a word for the next day, and one night declares wisdom unto the next night. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. 4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tabernacle for the sun, 5 which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. 6 His going forth is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. 7 ¶ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever; the rights of the LORD are true, they are all just. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy slave warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy slave also from pride and arrogance; let them not have dominion over me; then I shall be perfect, and I shall be innocent of the great rebellion. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Luke 8:1-56

1 ¶ And it came to pass afterward that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and announcing the gospel of the kingdom of God, and the twelve with him, 2 and certain women, who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who ministered unto him of their substance. 4 ¶ And when many people were gathered together and were come to him out of every city, he spoke by a parable: 5 A sower went out to sow his seed, and as he sowed, some fell along the way, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. 6 And some fell upon the rock, and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8 And some fell on good ground and sprang up and bore fruit a hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that has ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? 10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the others in parables that seeing they might not see and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the way are those that hear; then comes the devil and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rock are those that when they hear, receive the word with joy, but these have no root, who for a while believe and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are those who when they have heard go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are those who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience. 16 No one when they have lighted a lamp cover it with a vessel or put it under a bed, but set it on a lampstand, that those who enter in may see the light. 17 For nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest, neither any thing hid that shall not be known and come to light. 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear, for whosoever has, to him shall be given; and whosoever has not, from him shall be taken even that which he seems to have. 19 Then his mother and his brethren came to him and could not get to him for the crowd. 20 And it was told him by certain who said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand outside, desiring to see thee. 21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are those who hear the word of God and do it. 22 ¶ Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples, and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 23 But as they sailed, he fell asleep; and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were being filled with water and were in jeopardy. 24 And they came to him and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they, being afraid, wondered, saying one to another, Who is this! for he even commands the winds and the water, and they obey him. 26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. 27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, who had demons for a long time and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. 29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters, and he broke the bands and was driven of the demon into the wilderness.) 30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion, because many demons were entered into him. 31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the abyss. 32 And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain, and they besought him that he would allow them to enter into them. And he allowed them. 33 Then the demons went out of the man and entered into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked. 34 When those that fed them saw what was done, they fled and went and told it in the city and in the country. 35 Then they went out to see what was done and came to Jesus and found the man, out of whom the demons were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 36 And those who saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the demons was saved. 37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them, for they were taken with great fear; and he went up into the ship and returned back again. 38 Now the man out of whom the demons were departed besought him that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39 Return to thine own house and tell what great things God has done unto thee. And he went, preaching throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done unto him. 40 ¶ And it came to pass that when Jesus returned, the people received him, for they were all waiting for him. 41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a prince of the synagogue, and he fell down at Jesus’ feet and besought him that he would come into his house; 42 for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as he went, the people thronged him. 43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, who had spent all her living upon physicians but could not be healed by any, 44 came behind him and touched the border of his garment, and immediately her issue of blood stopped. 45 Then Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and those that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46 And Jesus said, Someone has touched me, for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole; go in peace. 49 While he yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not; only believe, and she shall be made whole. 51 And when he came into the house, he allowed no one to go in except Peter and James and John and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52 And all wept and bewailed her, but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleeps. 53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 And he put them all out and took her by the hand and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose straightway, and he commanded to give her food. 56 And her parents were astonished, but he charged them that they should tell no one what was done.

Mark 16:17-18

17 And these signs shall follow those that believe: In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 they shall take away serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands upon the sick, and they shall be healed.

1 Thessalonians 1:3-9

3 remembering without ceasing the work of your faith and labour and charity and of waiting with the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 4 being certain, beloved brethren, that you are chosen of God. 5 For our gospel did not come unto you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and in full assurance as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. 6 ¶ And ye were made imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word with much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Spirit: 7 So that ye have become examples to all that have believed in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For through you the word of the Lord has been divulged not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith, which is in God, has become extended, so that we have no need to say anything. 9 For they themselves tell of us what an entrance we had unto you and in what manner ye were converted to God from idols to serve the living and true God

Revelation 21:1-22:21

1 ¶ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I, John, saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of the heaven, prepared of God as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and death shall be no more neither shall there be any more sorrow nor crying nor pain; for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that was seated upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are faithful and true. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful and unbelieving and the abominable and murderers and fornicators and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. 9 ¶ And there came unto me one of the seven angels who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues and talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of the heaven from and with God, 11 having the clarity of God; and her light was like unto a most precious stone, even like a jasper stone, shining like crystal. 12 And it had a wall great and high, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel: 13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city and its gates and its wall. 16 And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth; and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs; and the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18 And the material of its wall was jasper; but the city was of pure gold, like unto clean glass. 19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates are twelve pearls; in each one, one; each gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as shining glass. 22 And I saw no temple in her; for the Lord God Almighty is her temple, and the Lamb. 23 And the city had no need of the sun neither of the moon to shine in her, for the clarity of God has illuminated it, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 And the Gentiles that have been saved shall walk in the light of her; and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory and honour into her. 25 And her gates shall never be shut by day; for there shall be no night there. 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honour of the Gentiles into it. 27 And there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean or that works abomination or makes a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:1-21

1 ¶ And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of her plaza and on either side of the river was the tree of life, which brings forth twelve manner of fruits, yielding her fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the Gentiles. 3 And there shall no longer be any cursed thing; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in her; and his slaves shall serve him; 4 and they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no lamp neither light of the sun; for the Lord God shall give them light; and they shall reign for ever and ever. 6 ¶ And he said unto me, These words are faithful and true; and the Lord God of the holy prophets has sent his angel to show unto his slaves the things which are necessary that they be done quickly. 7 Behold, I come quickly; blessed is he that keeps the words of the prophecy of this book. 8 And I, John, saw these things and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. 9 Then he said unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowslave and with thy brethren the prophets and with those who keep the words of this book: worship God. 10 And he said unto me, do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is at hand. 11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he that is righteous, let him be justified still; and let the saint be sanctified still. 12 And, behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give each one according as his work shall be. 13 I AM the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and end, the first and the last. 14 Blessed are those who do his commandments that their power and authority might be in the tree of life and they may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 But outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and whosoever loves and makes a lie. 16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the congregations {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones}. I AM the root and the offspring of David and the bright and morning star. 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hears say, Come. And let him that is thirsty come; and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely. 18 For I testify unto everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this book, If anyone shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life and out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book. 20 ¶ He who testifies these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

James 1:1-27

1 ¶ James, {Gr. Jacob}, a slave of God and of the Lord Jesus, the Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. 2 ¶ My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse trials, 3 knowing that the proving of your faith works patience, 4 and the patience finishes the work, that ye may be perfect and entire, not lacking in anything. 5 And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them. 6 But ask in faith, not doubting anything. For he that doubts is like the wave of the sea which is driven of the wind and is tossed from one side to another. 7 For let not such a man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. 8 The double minded man is unstable in all his ways. 9 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in his high status; 10 and he who is rich, in his low status, because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. 11 For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, and its flower falls, and the beautiful appearance of it perishes: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Blessed is the man that patiently endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those that love him. 13 ¶ Let no one say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither does he tempt anyone: 14 But each one is tempted, when they are drawn away of their own lust and enticed. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning. 18 He, of his own will, has begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be the firstfruits of his creatures. 19 ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God. 21 So then, leave all uncleanness and remains of malice and receive with meekness the word ingested within you, which is able to cause your souls to be saved. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if anyone hears the word and does not put it into practice, this same is like unto the man beholding his natural face in a mirror: 24 For he considered himself and went his way and in one hour forgot what he was like. 25 But whosoever has looked attentively into the perfect law of liberty and has persevered in it, not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, the same shall be blessed in their deed. 26 If anyone among you thinks to be religious and does not bridle his tongue, but deceives his own heart, his religion is vain. 27 The pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation and to keep thyself unspotted from this world.
