¹ ¶ Then Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice, for they will say, The LORD has not appeared unto thee. ² And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thy hand? And he said, A rod. ³ And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent, and Moses fled from before it. ⁴ And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thy hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand. ⁵ Therefore they will believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared unto thee. ⁶ And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Now put thy hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom, and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. ⁷ And he said, Put thy hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. ⁸ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign. ⁹ And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river and pour it upon the dry land; and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

³ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age?

¹⁷ And these signs shall follow those that believe: In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall take away serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands upon the sick, and they shall be healed. ¹⁹ ¶ So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat at the right hand of God.

¹² And crying out in his spirit, he said, Why does this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.

¹⁴ ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for appointed times and for days and years;

³ And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD has spoken: Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes with the burnt fat that are upon it shall be poured out. ⁴ And when King Jeroboam heard the word of the man of God, who had cried out against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. ⁵ The altar also was rent, and the ashes with the burnt fat were poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.

³⁸ ¶ Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we desire to see a sign from thee.

¹¹ This beginning of the signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth his glory, and his disciples believed on him.

²² Therefore, tongues are for a sign, not to those that believe, but to those that do not believe; but prophecy is not for those that do not believe, but for those who believe.

³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather today, for the heaven has an aurora and is cloudy. O ye hypocrites, ye know how to make decisions based on the face of the heaven, and regarding the signs of the times are ye unable?

⁴ Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all things are to be finished?

⁴⁸ Then Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and no sign shall be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

²⁵ Then there shall be signs in the sun and in the moon and in the stars, and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; ²⁶ men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. ²⁷ And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
