⁵ In the same manner, the tongue is a very small member and boasts of great things. Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

⁸ But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it legitimately, ⁹ knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly sinners, for the evil and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, ¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, ¹¹ according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

³⁷ But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no; for whatsoever is more than this comes of evil.

¹³ ¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.

¹⁷ ¶ He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness, but a false witness, deceit.
