¹ ¶ Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. ² But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditates day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. ⁴ ¶ The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. ⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. ⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their sons: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the sons which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their sons ⁷ that they might set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep his commandments ⁸ and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set their heart aright and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹⁰ Receive my chastening and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than precious stones; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

³ ¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

¹⁶ They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. ¹⁷ ¶ Sanctify them in thy truth; thy word is the truth.

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, turn away from profane voices and vain things and arguments in the vain name of science,

⁸ Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the traditions of men, according to the elements of the world, and not after Christ.

¹⁴ But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and in that which has been entrusted unto thee, knowing of whom thou hast learned them, ¹⁵ and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

¹ ¶ Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ² Honour thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), ³ that it may be well with thee, and thou may live long on the earth. ⁴ And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

¹⁵ and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

⁵⁸ ¶ Therefore, my beloved brothers, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, exercise yourselves in these things.

¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understanding of what the will of the Lord is.

² And be not conformed to this age, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your soul that ye may experience what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

⁵ And if any of you lacks wisdom, let them ask of God (who gives abundantly to all, and without reproach), and it shall be given them.

⁸ My son, hearken unto the chastening of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

¹⁵ I do not pray that thou should take them out of the world, but that thou should keep them from the evil.

³³ Be not deceived: evil companions corrupt good character.

⁵ And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul and with all thy might. ⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart, ⁷ and thou shalt repeat them diligently unto thy sons and shalt talk of them being in thy house and walking by the way, lying down in bed, and rising up; ⁸ and thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thy eyes; ⁹ and thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and on thy gates.

⁶ ¶ Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.
