²⁸ Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

³ Call unto me, and I will answer thee and show thee great and difficult things, which thou dost not know.

¹ ¶ And the hand of the LORD was upon me and took me out in the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the midst of a field which was full of bones, ² and caused me to pass by them round about; and, behold, there were very many upon the face of the field; and they were very dry. ³ And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. ⁴ Then he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones hear the word of the LORD. ⁵ Thus hath the Lord GOD said unto these bones: Behold, I will cause spirit to enter into you, and ye shall live: ⁶ And I will lay nerves upon you and will bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin and put spirit in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. ⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I prophesied, there was a thunder, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. ⁸ And I beheld, and behold nerves upon them and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no spirit in them. ⁹ Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the spirit, prophesy, son of man, and say to the spirit, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Come from the four winds, O spirit, and breathe upon these slain, and they shall live. ¹⁰ And I prophesied as he commanded me, and the spirit entered into them, and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. ¹¹ Then he said unto me, Son of man, all these bones are the house of Israel; behold, they say, Our bones have dried, and our hope is lost, and in ourselves we are totally cut off. ¹² Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, O my people, I open your graves and will cause you to come up out of your graves and bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ And ye shall know that I am the LORD when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves ¹⁴ and shall put my Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall cause you to rest upon your own land; then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it and performed it, said the LORD. ¹⁵ ¶ And the word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, ¹⁶ Thou, son of man, take one stick and write upon it: To Judah, and to the sons of Israel his companions; then take another stick and write upon it: To Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and to all the house of Israel his companions: ¹⁷ and join them one to another that they might become one; and they shall be one in thy hand. ¹⁸ And when the sons of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not show us what thou meanest by these? ¹⁹ Say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said: Behold, I take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah and make them one stick, and they shall be one in my hand. ²⁰ And the sticks upon which thou dost write shall be in thine hand before their eyes. ²¹ And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the Lord GOD said; Behold, I take the sons of Israel from among the Gentiles, where they be gone and will gather them on every side and bring them into their own land; ²² and I will make them one nation in the land in the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all; and they shall no longer be two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: ²³ neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their abominations, nor with all their rebellions, but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, in which they have sinned and will cleanse them, so they shall be my people, and I will be their God. ²⁴ And David my slave shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd; they shall also walk within my rights and keep my statutes and do them. ²⁵ And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my slave, in which your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they and their sons and their son’s sons for ever; and my slave David shall be their prince for ever. ²⁶ Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will plant them and multiply them and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. ²⁷ And my tabernacle shall be in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. ²⁸ And the Gentiles shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.

³⁵ The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

²³ For verily I say unto you that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Remove thyself and cast thyself into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart but shall believe that what he says shall be done whatsoever he says shall be done unto him.

²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹² For the word of God is alive and efficient and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

¹⁴ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: if thou shalt find it, and in the end thy hope shall not be cut off.

²⁸ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

⁸ He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound in you that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

⁷ Only be thou strong and very courageous that thou mayest keep and do according to all the law, which Moses my slave commanded thee; turn not from it to the right hand or to the left that thou may be prospered in all the things that thou doest. ⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou may keep and do according to all that is written therein; for then thou shalt make thy way to prosper, and then thou shalt understand everything. ⁹ See that I command thee to be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for I, the LORD thy God, am with thee wherever thou goest. ¹⁰ ¶ Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, ¹¹ Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, Prepare food; for within three days ye shall pass this Jordan, to enter in to inherit the land, which the LORD your God gives you to inherit. ¹² Also to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua spoke, saying, ¹³ Remember the word which Moses, the slave of the LORD, commanded you, saying, The LORD your God has given you rest and has given you this land. ¹⁴ Your wives, your little ones, and your beasts shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan; but ye, all the mighty men of valour, shall pass before your brethren armed and help them ¹⁵ until the LORD has given your brethren rest, as he has given you and they also inherit the land which the LORD your God gives them; then ye shall return unto the land of your inheritance and inherit it, which Moses the LORD’s slave has given you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrising. ¹⁶ ¶ Then they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us we will do, and wherever thou dost send us, we will go.

⁵ And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

²⁰ according to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

⁵ My soul, rest thou only in God, for my hope is from him.

¹⁸ For surely there is an end, and thy hope shall not be cut off.

²⁸ The hope of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked shall perish.

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think concerning you, said the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you the end that you wait for.
