⁹ You have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house.

³² And if you love them that love you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also love those that love them. ³³ And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks are to you? For sinners also do this. ³⁴ And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks are to you? For sinners also lend to sinners, for to receive as much.

³⁵ I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring you ought to support the weak and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, how he said: It is a more blessed thing to give, rather than to receive.

¹ Now, we that are stronger ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ² Let every one of you Please his neighbour unto good, to edification. ³ For Christ did not please himself: but, as it is written: The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell upon me.

²⁶ Let us not be made desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

¹⁶ For where envying and contention is: there is inconstancy and every evil work.

¹⁶ And do not forget to do good and to impart: for by such sacrifices God's favour is obtained.

⁴ No man, being a soldier to God, entangleth himself with secular businesses: that he may please him to whom he hath engaged himself.

²¹ For all seek the things that are their own not the things that are Jesus Christ's.

² Bear ye one another's burdens: and so you shall fulfil the law of Christ.

¹ From whence are wars and contentions among you? Are they not hence, from your concupiscences, which war in your members? ² You covet, and have not: you kill and envy and cannot obtain. You contend and war, and you have not: because you ask not.

⁴ Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up, ⁵ Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: ⁶ Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth:

³ Let nothing be done through contention: neither by vain glory. But in humility, let each esteem others better than themselves: ⁴ Each one not considering the things that are his own, but those that are other men's.

²⁴ Let no man seek his own, but that which is another's.

¹⁷ He that hath the substance of this world and shall see his brother in need and shall shut up his bowels from him: how doth the charity of God abide in him?

² Men shall be lovers of themselves, covetous, haughty, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, wicked, ³ Without affection, without peace, slanderers, incontinent, unmerciful, without kindness, ⁴ Traitors, stubborn, puffed up, and lovers of pleasure more than of God:

⁴ Each one not considering the things that are his own, but those that are other men's.
