⁹ Thou shalt not molest a stranger, for you know the hearts of strangers: for you also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

⁴⁹ The same law shall be to him that is born in the land, and to the proselyte that sojourneth with you.

¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, of the fatherless and the widow: and all the people shall say: Amen.

⁵ For if you will order well your ways, and your doings: if you will execute judgment between a man and his neighbour, ⁶ If you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after strange gods to your own hurt, ⁷ I will dwell with you in this place: in the land, which I gave to your fathers from the beginning and for evermore.

⁵ And I will come to you in judgment, and will be a speedy witness against sorcerers, and adulterers, and false swearers, and them that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widows, and the fatherless: and oppress the stranger, and have not feared me, saith the Lord of hosts.

³⁵ For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in:

¹ Let every soul be subject to higher powers. For there is no power but from God: and those that are ordained of God. ² Therefore, he that resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God. And they that resist purchase to themselves damnation. ³ For princes are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good: and thou shalt have praise from the same. ⁴ For he is God's minister to thee, for good. But if thou do that which is evil, fear: for he beareth not the sword in vain. For he is God's minister: an avenger to execute wrath upon him that doth evil. ⁵ Wherefore be subject of necessity: not only for wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ For therefore also you pay tribute. For they are the ministers of God, serving unto this purpose. ⁷ Render therefore to all men their dues. Tribute, to whom tribute is due: custom, to whom custom: fear, to whom fear: honour, to whom honour.

³³ If a stranger dwell in your land, and abide among you, do not upbraid hin: ³⁴ But let him be among you as one of the same country. And you shall love him as yourselves: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
