⁹ Keep thyself therefore, and thy soul carefully. Forget not the words that thy eyes have seen, and let them not go out of thy heart all the days of thy life. Thou shalt teach them to thy sons and to thy grandsons,

⁴ And thou hast foreseen all my ways: for there is no speech in my tongue.

¹ In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God: and the Word was God.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them in figure: and they are written for our correction, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

⁸ Jesus Christ, yesterday, and today: and the same for ever.

³ How great things have we heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ They have not been hidden from their children, in another generation. Declaring the praises of the Lord, and his powers, and his wonders which he hath done.

⁸ For inquire of the former generation, and search diligently into the memory of the fathers: ⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant that our days upon earth are but a shadow ¹⁰ And they shall teach thee: they shall speak to thee, and utter words out of their hearts.

¹⁸ But after he is raised to the throne of his kingdom, he shall copy out to himself the Deuteronomy of this law in a volume, taking the copy of the priests of the Levitical tribe, ¹⁹ And he shall have it with him, and shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, and keep his words and ceremonies, that are commanded in the law; ²⁰ And that his heart be not lifted up with pride over his brethren, nor decline to the right or to the left, that he and his sons may reign a long time over Israel.

⁴ For what things soever were written were written for our learning: that, through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.
