⁷ The mouth of a fool is his destruction: and his lips are the ruin of his soul.

⁷ Go against a foolish man, and he knoweth not the lips of prudence. ⁸ The wisdom of a discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth. ⁹ A fool will laugh at sin, but among the just grace shall abide.

⁶ The lips of a fool intermeddle with strife: and his mouth provoketh quarrels.

²² But I say to you, that whosoever is angry with his brother, shall be in danger of the judgment. And whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. And whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

²⁶ And every one that heareth these my words and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand,

³ For we ourselves also were some time unwise, incredulous, erring, slaves to divers desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

¹⁸ Fear is not in charity: but perfect charity casteth out fear, because fear hath sin. And he that feareth is not perfected in charity.

¹ Unto the end, a psalm for David. The fool hath said in his heart: There is no God. They are corrupt, and are become abominable in their ways: there is none that doth good, no not one. ² The Lord hath looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be any that understand and seek God. ³ They are all gone aside, they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good: no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they acted deceitfully: the poison of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and unhappiness in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes. ⁴ Shall not all they know that work iniquity, who devour my people as they eat bread?

⁹ If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry, or laugh, he shall find no rest.

¹⁴ Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the fool is next to confusion.

¹¹ A fool uttereth all his mind: a wise man deferreth, and keepeth it till afterwards.

⁷ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
