¹ In the mean time there arose a murmuring of the people against the Lord, as it were repining at their fatigue. And when the Lord heard it he was angry. And the fire of the Lord being kindled against them, devoured them that were at the uttermost part of the camp. ² And when the people cried to Moses, Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire was swallowed up. ³ And he called the name of that place, The burning: for that the fire of the Lord had been kindled against them. ⁴ For a mixt multitude of people, that came up with them, burned with desire, sitting and weeping, the children of Israel also being joined with them, and said: Who shall give us flesh to eat?

²⁵ And they murmured in their tents: they hearkened not to the voice of the Lord.

² And be not conformed to this world: but be reformed in the newness of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and the acceptable and the perfect will of God.

¹⁴ And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations: ¹⁵ That you may be blameless and sincere children of God, without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation: among whom you shine as lights in the world. ¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ: because I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.

¹² Wherefore, my dearly beloved, (as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only but much more now in my absence) with fear and trembling work out your salvation. ¹³ For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to accomplish, according to his good will. ¹⁴ And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations: ¹⁵ That you may be blameless and sincere children of God, without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation: among whom you shine as lights in the world. ¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life to my glory in the day of Christ: because I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.

¹¹ I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith. ¹² I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound (every where and in all things I am instructed): both to be full and to be hungry: both to abound and to suffer need.

¹⁴ And do ye all things without murmurings and hesitations: ¹⁵ That you may be blameless and sincere children of God, without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation: among whom you shine as lights in the world.

⁸ And Moses said: In the evening the Lord will give you flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full: for he hath heard your murmurings, with which you have murmured against him, for what are we? your murmuring is not against us, but against the Lord.

¹⁸ In all things give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you all.

¹⁰ Neither do you murmur, as some of them murmured and were destroyed by the destroyer.

⁹ Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.

⁹ Using hospitality one towards another, without murmuring,

²⁹ Let no evil speech proceed from your mouth: but that which is good, to the edification of faith: that it may administer grace to the hearers.
