¹⁵ And Dalila said to him: How dost thou say thou lovest me, when thy mind is not with me? Thou hast told me lies these three times, and wouldst not tell me wherein thy greatest strength lieth.

¹ A psalm for David. The Lord ruleth me: and I shall want nothing. ² He hath set me in a place of pasture. He hath brought me up, on the water of refreshment: ³ He hath converted my soul. He hath led me on the paths of justice, for his own name's sake. ⁴ For though I should walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evils, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they have comforted me. ⁵ Thou hast prepared a table before me against them that afflict me. Thou hast anointed my head with oil; and my chalice which inebreateth me, how goodly is it! ⁶ And thy mercy will follow me all the days of my life. And that I may dwell in the house of the Lord unto length of days.

¹ Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence: ² But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night. ³ And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season. And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper. ⁴ Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth. ⁵ Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just. ⁶ For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.

³ And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, one of the twelve. ⁴ And he went and discoursed with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray him to them. ⁵ And they were glad and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ And he promised. And he sought opportunity to betray him in the absence of the multitude.

²¹ When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit; and he testified, and said: Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you shall betray me.

¹³ I can do all things in him who strengtheneth me.

²³ For all have sinned and do need the glory of God.

So also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. ¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for, when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life which God hath promised to them that love him. ¹³ Let no man, when he is tempted, say that he is tempted by God. For God is not a tempter of evils: and he tempteth no man. ¹⁴ But every man is tempted by his own concupiscence, being drawn away and allured. ¹⁵ Then, when concupiscence hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. But sin, when it is completed, begetteth death. ¹⁶ Do not err, therefore, my dearest brethren. ¹⁷ Every best gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change nor shadow of alteration. ¹⁸ For of his own will hath he begotten us by the word of truth, that we might be some beginning of his creature. ¹⁹ You know, my dearest brethren. And let every man be swift to hear, but slow to speak and slow to anger. ²⁰ For the anger of man worketh not the justice of God. ²¹ Wherefore, casting away all uncleanness and abundance of naughtiness, with meekness receive the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls. ²² But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. ²³ For if a man be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass. ²⁴ For he beheld himself and went his way and presently forgot what manner of man he was. ²⁵ But he that hath looked into the perfect law of liberty and hath continued therein, not becoming a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work: this man shall be blessed in his deed. ²⁶ And if any man think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue but deceiving his own heart, this man's religion is vain. ²⁷ Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

¹² All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets.

²⁵ And when you shall stand to pray, forgive, if you have aught against any man: that your Father also, who is in heaven, may forgive you your sins.

⁴⁸ And Jesus said to him: Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?

³ I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee, and IN THEE shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

¹⁰ And then shall many be scandalized and shall betray one another and shall hate one another.

¹⁴ For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences. ¹⁵ But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences.

¹⁰ Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord and in the might of his power. ¹¹ Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. ¹² For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. ¹³ Therefore, take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day and to stand in all things perfect. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth and having on the breastplate of justice: ¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. ¹⁷ And take unto you the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God). ¹⁸ By all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the spirit: and in the same watching with all instance and supplication for all the saints:

⁵ A false witness shall not be unpunished: and he that speaketh lies, shall not escape.
