²¹ but prove all things, hold fast the right;

⁸ See that there be no one who shall lead *you* away as a prey through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the teaching of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ.

³ knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance.

¹³ No temptation has taken you but such as is according to man`s nature; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what ye are able [to bear], but will with the temptation make the issue also, so that [ye] should be able to bear [it].

⁶ Be careful about nothing; but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

⁸ Bless our God, ye peoples, and make the voice of his praise to be heard; ⁹ Who hath set our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. ¹⁰ For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. ¹¹ Thou broughtest us into a net, thou didst lay a heavy burden upon our loins; ¹² Thou didst cause men to ride over our head; we went through fire and through water: but thou hast brought us out into abundance.

¹⁰ But he knoweth the way that I take; he trieth me, I shall come forth as gold.

⁵ examine your own selves if ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: do ye not recognise yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless indeed ye be reprobates?

² And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [your] mind, that ye may prove what [is] the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

¹ Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, if they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
