¹ {To the chief Musician. On Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A Psalm.} My voice is unto God, and I will cry; my voice is unto God, and he will give ear unto me. ² In the day of my trouble, I sought the Lord: my hand was stretched out in the night, and slacked not; my soul refused to be comforted. ³ I remembered God, and I moaned; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. ⁴ Thou holdest open mine eyelids; I am full of disquiet and cannot speak. ⁵ I consider the days of old, the years of ancient times. ⁶ I remember my song in the night; I muse in mine own heart, and my spirit maketh diligent search. ⁷ Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? ⁸ Hath his loving-kindness ceased for ever? hath [his] word come to an end from generation to generation? ⁹ Hath ?God forgotten to be gracious? or hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah. ¹⁰ Then said I, This is my weakness: -- the years of the right hand of the Most High ¹¹ Will I remember, -- the works of Jah; for I will remember thy wonders of old, ¹² And I will meditate upon all thy work, and muse upon thy doings. ¹³ O God, thy way is in the sanctuary: who is so great a ?god as God? ¹⁴ Thou art the ?God that doest wonders; thou hast declared thy strength among the peoples. ¹⁵ Thou hast with [thine] arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. ¹⁶ The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they trembled, yea, the depths were troubled: ¹⁷ The thick clouds poured out water; the skies sent out a sound, yea, thine arrows went abroad: ¹⁸ The voice of thy thunder was in the whirlwind, lightnings lit up the world; the earth was troubled and it quaked. ¹⁹ Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths are in the great waters; and thy footsteps are not known. ²⁰ Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

⁵⁵ I have remembered thy name, O Jehovah, in the night, and have kept thy law.

¹ I am sought out of them that inquired not [for me], I am found of them that sought me not; I have said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. ² I have stretched out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, who walk in a way not good, after their own thoughts; ³ the people that provoke me to anger continually to my face, sacrificing in gardens and burning incense upon the bricks; ⁴ who sit down among the graves, and lodge in the secret places; who eat swine`s flesh, and broth of abominable things [is in] their vessels; <sup>5</sup> who say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day. <sup>6</sup> Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, <sup>7</sup> your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith Jehovah, who have burned incense upon the mountains, and outraged me upon the hills; and I will measure their former work into their bosom. <sup>8</sup> Thus saith Jehovah: As the new wine is found in the cluster, and it is said, Destroy it not, for a blessing is in it; so will I do for my servants` sakes, that I may not destroy [them] all. ⁹ And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah a possessor of my mountains; and mine elect shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there. ¹⁰ And the Sharon shall be a fold for flocks, and the valley of Achor a couching-place of the herds, for my people that have sought me. ¹¹ But ye who forsake Jehovah, who forget my holy mountain, who prepare a table for Gad, and fill up mixed wine unto Meni: ¹² I will even assign you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down in the slaughter; because I called, and ye did not answer, I spoke, and ye did not hear; but ye did what was evil in mine eyes, and chose that wherein I delight not. ¹³ Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, my servants shall eat, and *ye* shall be hungry; behold, my servants shall drink, and *ye* shall be thirsty; behold, my servants shall rejoice, and *ye* shall be ashamed; ¹⁴ behold, my servants shall sing aloud for gladness of heart, and *ye* shall cry out for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. ¹⁵ And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto mine elect; for the Lord Jehovah will slay thee, and will call his servants by another name: ¹⁶ so that he who blesseth himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the land shall swear by the God of truth: because the former troubles shall be forgotten, and because they shall be hidden from mine eyes. ¹⁷ For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. ¹⁸ But be glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create. For behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. ¹⁹ And I will rejoice over Jerusalem, and will joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. ²⁰ There shall be no more thenceforth an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not completed his days; for the youth shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner being a hundred years old shall be accursed. ²¹ And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof: ²² they shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. ²³ They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for terror; for they are the seed of the blessed of Jehovah, and their offspring with them. ²⁴ And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; while they are yet speaking, I will hear. ²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent`s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith Jehovah.

⁶³ saying, Sir, we have called to mind that that deceiver said when he was still alive, After three days I arise.

¹⁹ And having taken a loaf, when he had given thanks, he broke [it], and gave [it] to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

²⁵ These things I have said to you, abiding with you;

¹ James, bondman of God and of [the] Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which [are] in the dispersion, greeting. ² Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations, ³ knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance. ⁴ But let endurance have [its] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. ⁵ But if any one of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all freely and reproaches not, and it shall be given to him: ⁶ but let him ask in faith, nothing doubting. For he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed about; ⁷ for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord; ⁸ [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. ⁹ But let the brother of low degree glory in his elevation, ¹⁰ and the rich in his humiliation, because as [the] grass`s flower he will pass away. <sup>11</sup> For the sun has risen with its burning heat, and has withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the comeliness of its look has perished: thus the rich also shall wither in his goings. <sup>12</sup> Blessed [is the] man who endures temptation; for, having been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which He has promised to them that love him. <sup>13</sup> Let no man, being tempted, say, I am tempted of God. For God cannot be tempted by evil things, and himself tempts no one. <sup>14</sup> But every one is tempted, drawn away, and enticed by his own lust; <sup>15</sup> then lust, having conceived, gives birth to sin; but sin fully completed brings forth death. <sup>16</sup> Do not err, my beloved brethren. <sup>17</sup> Every good gift and every perfect gift comes down from above, from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation nor shadow of turning. <sup>18</sup> According to his own will begat he us by the word of truth, that we should be a certain first-fruits of *his* creatures. <sup>19</sup> So that, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; <sup>20</sup> for man`s wrath does not work God`s righteousness. <sup>21</sup> Wherefore, laying aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, accept with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. <sup>22</sup> But be ye doers of [the] word and not hearers only, beguiling yourselves. <sup>23</sup> For if any man be a hearer of [the] word and not a doer, *he* is like to a man considering his natural face in a mirror: <sup>24</sup> for he has considered himself and is gone away, and straightway he has forgotten what he was like. <sup>25</sup> But *he* that fixes his view on [the] perfect law, that of liberty, and abides in [it], being not a forgetful hearer but a doer of [the] work, *he* shall be blessed in his doing. <sup>26</sup> If any one think himself to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this man`s religion is vain. ²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

⁹ Remember the former things of old; for I [am] ?God, and there is none else; [I am] God, and there is none like me;

¹⁵ So then, brethren, stand firm, and hold fast the instructions which ye have been taught, whether by word or by our letter.

²⁵ In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood: this do, as often as ye shall drink [it], in remembrance of me.

¹⁵ Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Even these forget, but I will not forget thee. ¹⁶ Lo, I have graven thee upon the palms of [my] hands; thy walls are continually before me.

¹ And remember thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, of which thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

⁵ Remember therefore whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works: but if not, I am coming to thee, and I will remove thy lamp out of its place, except thou shalt repent.

²⁴ and having given thanks broke [it], and said, This is my body, which [is] for you: this do in remembrance of me.

³⁵ I have shewed you all things, that thus labouring [we] ought to come in aid of the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

² And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or not.

² Now I praise you, that in all things ye are mindful of me; and that as I have directed you, ye keep the directions.

¹² [then] beware lest thou forget Jehovah who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
