¹ [There is] then now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. ² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death. ³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, having sent his own Son, in likeness of flesh of sin, and for sin, has condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴ in order that the righteous requirement of the law should be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to flesh but according to Spirit. ⁵ For they that are according to flesh mind the things of the flesh; and they that are according to Spirit, the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For the mind of the flesh [is] death; but the mind of the Spirit life and peace. ⁷ Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God; for neither indeed can it be: ⁸ and they that are in flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But *ye* are not in flesh but in Spirit, if indeed God`s Spirit dwell in you; but if any one has not [the] Spirit of Christ *he* is not of him: <sup>10</sup> but if Christ be in you, the body is dead on account of sin, but the Spirit life on account of righteousness. <sup>11</sup> But if the Spirit of him that has raised up Jesus from among [the] dead dwell in you, he that has raised up Christ from among [the] dead shall quicken your mortal bodies also on account of his Spirit which dwells in you. <sup>12</sup> So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to flesh; <sup>13</sup> for if ye live according to flesh, ye are about to die; but if, by the Spirit, ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live: <sup>14</sup> for as many as are led by [the] Spirit of God, *these* are sons of God. <sup>15</sup> For ye have not received a spirit of bondage again for fear, but ye have received a spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. <sup>16</sup> The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God. <sup>17</sup> And if children, heirs also: heirs of God, and Christ`s joint heirs; if indeed we suffer with [him], that we may also be glorified with [him]. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy [to be compared] with the coming glory to be revealed to us. ¹⁹ For the anxious looking out of the creature expects the revelation of the sons of God: ²⁰ for the creature has been made subject to vanity, not of its will, but by reason of him who has subjected [the same], in hope ²¹ that the creature itself also shall be set free from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that the whole creation groans together and travails in pain together until now. ²³ And not only [that], but even *we* ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, we also ourselves groan in ourselves, awaiting adoption, [that is] the redemption of our body. ²⁴ For we have been saved in hope; but hope seen is not hope; for what any one sees, why does he also hope? ²⁵ But if what we see not we hope, we expect in patience. ²⁶ And in like manner the Spirit joins also its help to our weakness; for we do not know what we should pray for as is fitting, but the Spirit itself makes intercession with groanings which cannot be uttered. ²⁷ But he who searches the hearts knows what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he intercedes for saints according to God. ²⁸ But we *do* know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to purpose. ²⁹ Because whom he has foreknown, he has also predestinated [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, so that he should be [the] firstborn among many brethren. ³⁰ But whom he has predestinated, these also he has called; and whom he has called, these also he has justified; but whom he has justified, these also he has glorified. ³¹ What shall we then say to these things? If God [be] for us, who against us? ³² He who, yea, has not spared his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him grant us all things? ³³ Who shall bring an accusation against God`s elect? [It is] God who justifies: ³⁴ who is he that condemns? [It is] Christ who has died, but rather has been [also] raised up; who is also at the right hand of God; who also intercedes for us. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? tribulation or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ According as it is written, For thy sake we are put to death all the day long; we have been reckoned as sheep for slaughter. ³⁷ But in all these things we more than conquer through him that has loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which [is] in Christ Jesus our Lord.

³¹ Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatever ye do, do all things to God`s glory.

¹ Now faith is [the] substantiating of things hoped for, [the] conviction of things not seen. ² For in [the power of] this the elders have obtained testimony. ³ By faith we apprehend that the worlds were framed by [the] word of God, so that that which is seen should not take its origin from things which appear. ⁴ By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained testimony of being righteous, God bearing testimony to his gifts, and by it, having died, he yet speaks. ⁵ By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him; for before [his] translation he has the testimony that he had pleased God. ⁶ But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]. For he that draws near to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them who seek him out. ⁷ By faith, Noah, oracularly warned concerning things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house; by which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which [is] according to faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, being called, obeyed to go out into the place which he was to receive for an inheritance, and went out, not knowing where he was going. ⁹ By faith he sojourned as a stranger in the land of promise as a foreign country, having dwelt in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with [him] of the same promise; ¹⁰ for he waited for the city which has foundations, of which God is [the] artificer and constructor. ¹¹ By faith also Sarah herself received strength for [the] conception of seed, and [that] beyond a seasonable age; since she counted him faithful who promised. ¹² Wherefore also there have been born of one, and that of one become dead, even as the stars of heaven in multitude, and as the countless sand which [is] by the sea shore. ¹³ All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them from afar off and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. ¹⁴ For they who say such things shew clearly that they seek [their] country. ¹⁵ And if they had called to mind that from whence they went out, they had had opportunity to have returned; ¹⁶ but now they seek a better, that is, a heavenly; wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he has prepared for them a city. ¹⁷ By faith Abraham, [when] tried, offered up Isaac, and he who had received to himself the promises offered up his only begotten [son], ¹⁸ as to whom it had been said, In Isaac shall thy seed be called: ¹⁹ counting that God [was] able to raise [him] even from among [the] dead, whence also he received him in a figure. ²⁰ By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. ²¹ By faith Jacob [when] dying blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshipped on the top of his staff. ²² By faith Joseph [when] dying called to mind the going forth of the sons of Israel, and gave commandment concerning his bones. ²³ By faith Moses, being born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw the child beautiful; and they did not fear the injunction of the king. ²⁴ By faith Moses, when he had become great, refused to be called son of Pharaoh`s daughter; <sup>25</sup> choosing rather to suffer affliction along with the people of God than to have [the] temporary pleasure of sin; <sup>26</sup> esteeming the reproach of the Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt, for he had respect to the recompense. <sup>27</sup> By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as seeing him who is invisible. <sup>28</sup> By faith he celebrated the passover and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch them. <sup>29</sup> By faith they passed through the Red sea as through dry land; of which the Egyptians having made trial were swallowed up. <sup>30</sup> By faith the walls of Jericho fell, having been encircled for seven days. <sup>31</sup> By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with the unbelieving, having received the spies in peace. <sup>32</sup> And what more do I say? For the time would fail me telling of Gideon, and Barak, and Samson, and Jephthah, and David and Samuel, and of the prophets: <sup>33</sup> who by faith overcame kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped lions` mouths, ³⁴ quenched [the] power of fire, escaped [the] edge of the sword, became strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, made [the] armies of strangers give way. ³⁵ Women received their dead again by resurrection; and others were tortured, not having accepted deliverance, that they might get a better resurrection; ³⁶ and others underwent trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, and of bonds and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, were sawn asunder, were tempted, died by the death of the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, destitute, afflicted, evil treated, ³⁸ (of whom the world was not worthy,) wandering in deserts and mountains, and [in] dens and caverns of the earth. ³⁹ And these all, having obtained witness through faith, did not receive the promise, ⁴⁰ God having foreseen some better thing for us, that they should not be made perfect without us.

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us [our] sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that ye should abound in hope by [the] power of [the] Holy Spirit.

⁴ For as many things as have been written before have been written for our instruction, that through endurance and through encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

²⁶ Be angry, and do not sin; let not the sun set upon your wrath,

²⁶ for ye are all God`s sons by faith in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ -- Fear not, for I [am] with thee; be not dismayed, for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ² I say of Jehovah, My refuge and my fortress; my God, I will confide in him. ³ Surely *he* shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, [and] from the destructive pestilence. ⁴ He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou find refuge: his truth is a shield and buckler. ⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, for the arrow that flieth by day, ⁶ For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. ⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked. ⁹ Because *thou* hast made Jehovah, my refuge, the Most High, thy dwelling-place, ¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent. ¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge concerning thee, to keep thee in all thy ways: ¹² They shall bear thee up in [their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹³ Thou shalt tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under foot. ¹⁴ Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. ¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him. ¹⁶ With length of days will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

³¹ Let all bitterness, and heat of passion, and wrath, and clamour, and injurious language, be removed from you, with all malice;

² And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [your] mind, that ye may prove what [is] the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

¹³ Does any one among you suffer evil? let him pray. Is any happy? let him sing psalms.

¹⁰ The thief comes not but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I am come that they might have life, and might have [it] abundantly.

² Count it all joy, my brethren, when ye fall into various temptations, ³ knowing that the proving of your faith works endurance. ⁴ But let endurance have [its] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
