⁵ Confide in Jehovah with all thy heart, and lean not unto thine own intelligence;

⁸ Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread of my daily need: ⁹ lest I be full and deny [thee], and say, Who is Jehovah? or lest I be poor and steal, and outrage the name of my God.

³ Thou wilt keep in perfect peace the mind stayed [on thee], for he confideth in thee.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust spoils, and where thieves dig through and steal; ²⁰ but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust spoils, and where thieves do not dig through nor steal; ²¹ for where thy treasure is, there will be also thy heart. ²² The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body will be light: ²³ but if thine eye be wicked, thy whole body will be dark. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great the darkness! ²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and will love the other, or he will hold to the one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

³ Confide in Jehovah, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on faithfulness; ⁴ and delight thyself in Jehovah, and he will give thee the desires of thy heart. ⁵ Commit thy way unto Jehovah, and rely upon him: he will bring [it] to pass;

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take heed and keep yourselves from all covetousness, for [it is] not because a man is in abundance [that] his life is in his possessions.

¹⁷ However, as the Lord has divided to each, as God has called each, so let him walk; and thus I ordain in all the assemblies.

¹⁹ But my God shall abundantly supply all your need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in necessities, in persecutions, in straits, for Christ: for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

⁶ But piety with contentment *is* great gain.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

¹¹ Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me *I* have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself.

⁶ But piety with contentment *is* great gain. ⁷ For we have brought nothing into the world: [it is] [manifest] that neither can we carry anything out. ⁸ But having sustenance and covering, we will be content with these. ⁹ But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and many unwise and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. ¹⁰ For the love of money is [the] root of every evil; which some having aspired after, have wandered from the faith, and pierced themselves with many sorrows. ¹¹ But *thou*, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, piety, faith, love, endurance, meekness of spirit.

⁵ [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.

¹¹ Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me *I* have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself. ¹² I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I am initiated both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer privation.
