³² But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the affairs of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; ³³ but a married man is concerned about the affairs of the world, how he may please his wife, ³⁴ and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman, and the virgin, is concerned about the affairs of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but the married woman is concerned about the affairs of the world, how she may please her husband. ³⁵ This I say for your own benefit, not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is good and to secure undivided devotion to the Lord.

³ For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that is, that you should abstain from sexual immorality; ⁴ that each one of you know how to take his own spouse for himself in holiness and honor, ⁵ not in the passion of lust like the heathen, who do not know God;

¹ I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. ² Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

⁴ These are the ones who have not been defiled with women, for they have kept themselves chaste. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They have been purchased from among men as first fruits to God and to the Lamb.

⁶ But from the beginning of creation God 'made them male and female.' ⁷ 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, ⁸ and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

¹⁸ Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. ¹⁹ Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; ²⁰ you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.

³ For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that is, that you should abstain from sexual immorality; ⁴ that each one of you know how to take his own spouse for himself in holiness and honor, ⁵ not in the passion of lust like the heathen, who do not know God; ⁶ and that no man transgress and wrong his brother in this matter because the Lord is the avenger in all these things, just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you. ⁷ For God has not called us to impurity, but to holiness. ⁸ Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.

⁸ But I say to the unmarried and to the widows that it is good for them if they remain even as I. ⁹ But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for God will judge the immoral and adulterous.

² But because of immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.
