²³ I know, O Lord, that man's way is not his own; neither shall a man go, and direct his going.

³⁹ He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."

²³ Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁴ For whoever desires to save his life shall lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake shall save it.

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? ²⁰ For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

⁵ Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, ⁶ who, existing in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, ⁷ but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming to be in the likeness of men. ⁸ And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

²⁶ My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.

¹ Therefore, brothers, I exhort you through the compassions of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your intelligent service.

⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, ⁷ casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares about you. ⁸ Be sober, be watchful; your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking someone he may devour. ⁹ Resist him, being steadfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. ¹⁰ But may the God of all grace, the One having called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, may He Himself make you complete--He will establish, strengthen, and firmly ground you.

³⁵ And having gone forward a little, He fell on the ground, and He was praying, that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. ³⁶ And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."

¹ "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. ² Every branch in Me which does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch which bears fruit He prunes, so that it may bear more fruit. ³ You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit on its own, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. ⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; because apart from Me you can do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out like a branch and dries up; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what ever you may desire, and it shall be done for you.

¹⁰ Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

² And do not fashion yourselves after this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and well pleasing and perfect will of God.

⁷ Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
