⁵ For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endures from generation to generation.

²¹ But test all things; hold fast that which is good.

¹⁷ Now as He was going out into the road, one came running up, and having knelt before Him, he asked Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" ¹⁸ So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good except One, God. ¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not commit murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Do not defraud,' 'Honor your father and your mother.' " ²⁰ And he answered and said to Him, "Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth." ²¹ Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go, sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." ²² But having become gloomy at this saying, he went away grieving, for he had many possessions.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men. ² But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in His law will he meditate day and night. ³ And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall prosper. ⁴ Not so for the ungodly — not so; but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth. ⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not rise in the judgment, nor sinners in the counsel of the just. ⁶ For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

²⁰ Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; who make darkness light, and light darkness; who make bitter sweet, and sweet bitter.

²¹ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
