Bible verses about "comfort" | CAB

Psalms 1:1-6

1 Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of evil men. 2 But his pleasure is in the law of the Lord; and in His law will he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be as a tree planted by the brooks of waters, which shall yield its fruit in its season, and its leaf shall not fall off; and whatsoever he shall do shall prosper. 4 Not so for the ungodly — not so; but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not rise in the judgment, nor sinners in the counsel of the just. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalms 71:21

21 You multiplied Your righteousness, and turned and comforted me, and brought me again out of the depths of the earth.

Psalms 119:49-51

49 Remember Your words to Your servant, upon which You have made me hope. 50 This has comforted me in my affliction; for Your word has revived me. 51 The proud have transgressed exceedingly; but I swerved not from Your law.

Psalms 119:50

50 This has comforted me in my affliction; for Your word has revived me.

Psalms 86:17

17 Establish with me a token for good; and let them that hate me see it and be ashamed; because You, O Lord, have helped me, and comforted me.

Isaiah 40:1-2

1 Comfort, yes, comfort My people, says your God. 2 Speak, you priests, to the heart of Jerusalem; comfort her, for her humiliation is accomplished, her sin is put away; for she has received of the Lord's hand double for her sins.

Isaiah 49:13

13 Rejoice, you heavens; and let the earth be glad; let the mountains break forth with joy; for the Lord has had mercy on His people, and has comforted the lowly ones of His people.

Isaiah 51:12

Isaiah 12:1

1 And in that day you shall say, I will bless You, O Lord; for You were angry with me, but You have turned aside Your wrath, and have pitied me.

John 16:22

22 Therefore you also now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

Romans 8:32-39

32 He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up on behalf of us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring an accusation against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ is the One having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at the right hand of God, who also intercedes on our behalf. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 Just as it is written: "For Your sake we are put to death the whole day long; we are accounted as sheep for slaughter." 37 But in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalms 119:76

76 Let, I pray, Your mercy be to comfort me, according to Your word to Your servant.

Romans 8:26-28

26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. 27 But He that searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes on behalf of the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Psalms 91:1-16

1 Praise of a Song, by David. He that dwells in the help of the Highest, shall sojourn under the shelter of the God of heaven. 2 He shall say to the Lord, You are my helper and my refuge; my God; I will trust in Him. 3 For He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, from every troublesome matter. 4 He shall overshadow you with His shoulders, and You shall trust under His wings; His truth shall cover you with a shield. 5 You shall not be afraid of terror by night; nor of the arrow flying by day; 6 nor of the evil thing that walks in darkness; nor of calamity, and the evil spirit at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you observe and see the reward of sinners. 9 For You, O Lord, are my hope; You, my soul, have made the Most High your refuge. 10 No evils shall come upon you, and no scourge shall draw near to your dwelling. 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. 12 They shall bear you up on their hands, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread on the asp and basilisk; and you shall trample on the lion and dragon. 14 For he has hoped in Me, and I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will hearken to him; I am with him in affliction; and I will deliver him, and glorify him. 16 I will satisfy him with length of days, and show him My salvation.

Matthew 5:1-48

1 And seeing the crowds, He went up into the mountain, and after He had sat down, His disciples approached Him. 2 And opening His mouth, He began to teach them, saying: 3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 "Blessed are you whenever they revile you, and they persecute you, and they say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 13 "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what shall it be salted? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and to be trampled underfoot by men. 14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it shines on everything in the house. 16 Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works, and they may glorify your Father who is in heaven. 17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly I say to you, until heaven and earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle shall by no means pass away from the law until all things are fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore shall break one of the least of these commandments, and shall teach men thus, will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does them and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 21 "You have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not kill,' and whoever kills will be liable to the judgment. 22 But I say to you that whoever gets angry with his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Empty-head!' will be liable to the council. But whoever says, ' fool!' will be liable to the fiery hell. 23 Therefore if you offer your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go, first be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Make friends with your adversary quickly, while you are on the road with him, lest your adversary hand you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be cast into prison. 26 Assuredly I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny. 27 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery.' 28 But I say to you, that whoever looks at a woman in order to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is better for you that one of your members be lost, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 31 "Furthermore it has been said, 'Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a divorce certificate.' 32 "But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorcee commits adultery. 33 "Again you have heard that it was said to the ancients, 'You shall not swear falsely, but you shall pay your oaths to the Lord.' 34 "But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God's throne; 35 nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black. 37 But let your word be 'Yes', 'yes,'; 'No,' 'no.' For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. 38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39 But I say to you not to resist an evil person. But whoever shall slap you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And to the one desiring to sue you and to take your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42 Give to the one asking you, and to the one desiring to borrow from you, do not turn away. 43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor, and you shall hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, 45 so that you may prove to be sons of your Father in heaven; because He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and He sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your friends only, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 You therefore be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Psalms 23:4

4 Yea, though I walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, by means of the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
