Mark 16:17-18

17 And these signs will accompany those having believed: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 and with their hands they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it shall never hurt them; they will lay hands upon the sick, and they will be well.”

Luke 8:1-56

1 And it came to pass soon afterward that He was traveling throughout city and village, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. And the Twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been cured from evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who is called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, 3 and Joanna wife of Chuza, a steward of Herod, and Susanna, and many others, who were ministering to them out of their own means. 4 And as a great crowd is assembling, and those from each town are coming to Him, He spoke by a parable: 5 “The one sowing went out to sow his seed. And in his sowing, some indeed fell along the road, and it was trampled upon, and the birds of the air devoured it. 6 And other fell upon the rock, and having sprung up it withered through having no moisture. 7 And other fell in the midst of the thorns, and the thorns having sprung up with it, choked it. 8 And other fell upon the good soil, and having sprung up, it produced fruit—a hundredfold.” Saying these things, He was calling out, “The one having ears to hear, let him hear.” 9 And His disciples were asking Him, “What does this parable mean?” 10 And He said, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest, it is in parables, so that, ‘Seeing, they may not see; and hearing, they may not understand.’ 11 And the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 And those along the road are those having heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, lest having believed, they should be saved. 13 And those upon the rock are those who receive the word with joy when they hear; and these have no root, who believe for a time, and in time of testing fall away. 14 And that having fallen into the thorns, these are those having heard, and moving along are choked under the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and do not mature. 15 And that in the good soil, these are those who, having heard the word, keep it in a worthy and good heart and bring forth fruit by perseverance. 16 And no one having lighted a lamp, covers it with a vessel, or puts it under a bed. But he puts it on a lampstand, so that those entering in may see the light. 17 For nothing is hidden which will not become manifest, nor secret which shall not be known and come to light. 18 Therefore take heed how you hear; for whoever might have, to him will be given; and whoever might not have, even what he seems to have will be taken away from him.” 19 And His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were not able to get to Him, because of the crowd. 20 And it was told Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.” 21 But answering, He said to them, “My mother and my brothers are those who are hearing and doing the word of God.” 22 And it came to pass, on one of the days also, He with His disciples entered into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us pass over to the other side of the lake.” And they launched out. 23 And of them sailing, He fell asleep. And a storm of wind came down on the lake, and they were being swamped, and were in danger. 24 And having approached, they awoke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And having arisen, He rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And having been afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?” 26 And they sailed down to the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 And He having gone forth upon the land, a certain man out of the city met Him, having demons, and a long time he was not wearing clothing and did not abide in a house, but in the tombs. 28 And having seen Jesus, having cried out, he fell down before Him and said in a loud voice, “What to me and to You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore of You that You might not torment me!” 29 For He was commanding the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For it had seized him many times, and he was bound, being kept with chains and shackles. And breaking the chains, he was driven by the demon into the deserts. 30 And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons were entered into him. 31 And they were begging Him not to command them to depart into the abyss. 32 And there was a herd of many pigs feeding there in the mountain, and they begged Him that He would allow them to enter into them; and He allowed them. 33 And the demons having gone out from the man, entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and was drowned. 34 And those feeding them, having seen that having taken place, fled and reported it to the city and to the country. 35 And they went out to see that having taken place, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out sitting, clothed, and being of sound mind, at the feet of Jesus. And they were afraid. 36 And those having seen it related to them how the one having been possessed by demons was healed. 37 And all the multitude of the surrounding region of the Gerasenes asked Him to depart from them, because they were seized with great fear. And He, having entered into the boat, turned back. 38 But the man from whom the demons had gone was begging Him to be taken with Him. But He sent him away saying, 39 “Return to your house, and relate all that God has done for you.” And he departed, proclaiming through the whole city all that Jesus had done for him. 40 And when Jesus returned, the crowd received Him, for they were all looking for Him. 41 And behold, a man whose name was Jairus came, and he was a ruler of the synagogue, and having fallen at the feet of Jesus, he began begging Him to come to his house, 42 because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. And as He went, the crowds were pressing around Him. 43 And a woman being with a flux of blood for twelve years, who, having spent all her living on physicians, was not able to be healed by anyone. 44 Having come behind Him, she touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her flux of blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who is the one having touched Me?” But all were denying it. Peter said, “Master, the people surround You and press in.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched Me, for I know power has gone out from Me.” 47 And the woman, having seen that she was not hidden, came trembling, and having fallen down before Him before all the people, she declared for what cause she touched Him, and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you; go in peace.” 49 Of Him still speaking, one comes from the synagogue ruler, saying, “Your daughter has died; trouble the Teacher no longer.” 50 But Jesus having heard, answered him, “Fear not; only believe, and she will be saved.” 51 And having entered into the house, He did not allow anyone to go in with Him, except Peter and John and James and the father and the mother of the child. 52 And all were weeping and mourning for her. But He said, “Do not weep; for she is not dead, but sleeps.” 53 And they were laughing at Him, knowing that she was dead. 54 And He having taken hold her of hand, called out, saying, “Child, arise!” 55 And her spirit returned, and she arose immediately; and He directed to be given to her to eat. 56 And her parents were amazed; and He instructed them to tell no one what had happened.

1 Thessalonians 1:3-9

3 remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and unceasing labor of love, and the endurance of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 knowing, brothers beloved by God, your election, 5 because our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit, and with much full assurance, just as you know what we were among you on account of you. 6 And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation, with the joy of the Holy Spirit, 7 so as for you to became an example to all the believing ones in Macedonia and in Achaia. 8 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and in Achaia, but in every place your faith toward God has gone abroad, so as for us to have no need to say anything. 9 For they themselves report concerning us what reception we had from you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God,

Revelation 21:1-22:21

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride having been adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself will be with them as their God. 4 And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more nor mourning nor crying nor pain; they will be no more, because the former things have passed away.” 5 And the One sitting on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He says, “Write this, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one thirsting I will give of the spring of the water of life freely. 7 The one overcoming will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8 But to the cowardly and unbelieving and having become abominable and murderers and the sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their portion is in the lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” 9 And one of the seven angels having the seven bowls being full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Its radiance was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone being clear as crystal, 12 having a great and high wall, having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names having been inscribed which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 On the east were three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 And the one speaking with me had a golden measuring reed, so that he could measure the city, and its gates, and its wall. 16 And the city lies foursquare, and its length the same as also the width. And he measured the city with the reed at twelve thousand stadia. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of man, that is of the angel. 18 And the structure of its wall was jasper, and the city pure gold, like clear glass, 19 the foundations of the wall of the city having been adorned with every precious stone: the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates respectively was of one pearl, and the street of the city pure gold, transparent as glass. 22 And I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they should shine in it; for the glory of God enlightened it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 And the nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it. 25 And its gates shall not be shut by day, for there will be no night there. 26 And they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 And anything defiling, and those practicing abomination and a lie, never shall enter into it; only those having been written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:1-21

1 And he showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, flowing out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street and of the river, on this side and on that side, was a tree of life, producing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit according to each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 And there will not be any curse any longer. And the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will serve Him. 4 And they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5 And there will be no night there, and they have no need of the light of a lamp and of the light of the sun, because the Lord God will enlighten upon them, and they will reign to the ages of the ages. 6 And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show His servants the things that must come to pass in quickness.” 7 “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is the one keeping the words of the prophecy of this book.” 8 And I, John, am the one hearing and seeing these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel showing these things me. 9 And he says to me, “See that you not do this. I am your fellow servant, and with your brothers the prophets, and with those keeping the words of this book. Worship God!” 10 And he says to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is near. 11 The one being unrighteous, let him be unrighteous still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous, let him practice righteousness still; and he who is holy, let him be holy still.” 12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each as is his work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” 14 Blessed are those washing their robes, that their right will be to the tree of life, and they shall enter into the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the sexually immoral, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone loving and practicing falsehood. 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to all of you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.” 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And the one hearing, let him say, “Come!” And the one thirsting let him come; the one desiring, let him take freely the water of life. 18 I testify to everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone should add to these things, God will add unto him the plagues having been written in this book. 19 And if anyone should take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, of those having been written in this book. 20 The One testifying these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.

James 1:1-27

1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. 2 Esteem it all joy, my brothers, when you might fall into various trials, 3 knowing that testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. 5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, the One giving generously to all and not finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing, for the one doubting is like a wave of the sea, being blown and being tossed by the wind. 7 For let that man not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. 8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 But let the brother of low degree boast in his exaltation, 10 and he who is rich, in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a flower of grass. 11 For the sun has risen with its burning heat and withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the beauty of its appearance has perished. Thus also the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits. 12 Blessed is the man who endures trial, because, having been approved, he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those loving Him. 13 Let no one being tempted say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God is unable to be tempted by evils, and He Himself tempts no one. 14 But a man is tempted, being drawn away and being enticed by the own desire. 15 Then desire having conceived, gives birth to sin; and sin having become fully grown, brings forth death. 16 Do not be misled, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of shifting. 18 Having willed it, He brought us forth by the word of truth, for us to be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. 19 Know this, my beloved brothers. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow unto anger; 20 for man’s anger does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore, having put aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, receive in humility the implanted word, being able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves, 23 because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror, 24 for he has viewed himself and has gone away, and immediately he has forgotten of what manner he was. 25 But the one having looked intently into the perfect law, that of freedom, and having continued in it, not having been a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work—this one will be blessed in his work. 26 If anyone seems to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, the religion of this one is worthless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before the God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation; to keep oneself unstained from the world.
