¹⁶ Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple, and the Spirit of God dwells in you?

³⁴ But I say to you not to swear at all: neither by heaven, because it is the throne of God; ³⁵ nor by the earth, because it is the footstool of His feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great King. ³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your statement ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more than these comes from evil.

⁴⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and the evil out of the evil brings forth that which is evil. For out of the abundance of his heart, his mouth speaks.

¹² But before all things, my brothers, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor the earth, nor any other oath. But let your “Yes” be yes, and the “No,” no, so that you might not fall under judgment.

⁴ and filthiness, and foolish talking, or crude joking, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving. ⁵ For this you know, realizing that any fornicator, or unclean person, or covetous man, who is an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

²⁹ Do not let any unwholesome word go forth out of your mouth, but only good, for edification of the need, so that it may give grace to those hearing.
