Bible verses about "lawyers" | BLB

Matthew 7:12

12 All things therefore, as many as you might desire that men should do to you, so also you do to them, for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 22:35

35 And one of them, a lawyer, questioned Him, testing Him,

Acts 5:34

34 But a certain man having risen up in the Council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law honored by all the people, commanded them to put the men outside for a short while.

1 John 4:1

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

John 8:32

32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set free you.”

Luke 10:25-37

25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing Him, saying, “Teacher, what having done, will I inherit eternal life?” 26 And He said to him, “What has been written in the Law? How do you read it?” 27 And answering, he said, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind’ and ‘Your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered correctly. Do this and you will live.” 29 But desiring to justify himself, he said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus having taken it up, then said, “A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who both having stripped him and having inflicted wounds, went away having left him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest was going down on that road, and having seen him, he passed by on the opposite side. 32 And likewise also a Levite having come to the spot, and having seen him, passed by on the opposite side. 33 But a certain Samaritan journeying came to him, and having seen him was moved with compassion, 34 and having approached Him, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and having put him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And on the next day, having taken out two denarii, he gave them to the innkeeper and said, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you might expend, I will repay you on my returning.’ 36 Which of these three seems to you to have been a neighbor of the one having fallen among the robbers?” 37 And he said, “The one having shown compassion toward him.” Then Jesus said to him, “You go and do likewise.”

1 Peter 4:1-6

1 Therefore Christ having suffered in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same mind, because the one having suffered in the flesh is done with sin, 2 so as to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer to men’s desires, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past is sufficient to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having walked in sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries. 4 With respect to this, they think it strange of you not running with them into the same overflow of debauchery, speaking evil of you, 5 who will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For to this end the gospel was proclaimed even to the dead, so that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but they might live in the spirit according to God.

Galatians 5:14

14 For the entire Law is fulfilled in in this one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Romans 13:8-10

8 Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for the one loving the other has fulfilled the Law. 9 For, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, in, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does not do evil to its neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law.

Luke 11:45-52

45 And one of the lawyers answering, says to Him, “Teacher, saying these things You insult us also.” 46 And He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you burden men with burdens heavy to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers. 47 Woe to you, for you build the tombs of the prophets, yet your fathers killed them. 48 So you are witnesses and consent to the works of your fathers; for indeed they killed them, and you build their tombs. 49 Because of this also, the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ 50 so that the blood of all the prophets having been poured out from the foundation of the world might be charged against this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the one having perished between the altar and the house. Yes, I say to you, it will be required of this generation. 52 Woe to you lawyers, for you have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter, and you hindered those who are entering.”
