¹⁷ And one out of the crowd answered Him, “Teacher, I brought to You my son, having a mute spirit; ¹⁸ and whenever it seizes him, it throws him down; and he foams and gnashes his teeth, and is withering away. And I spoke to Your disciples, that they might cast it out, and they had no power.” ¹⁹ And answering him He says, “O unbelieving generation! Until when will I be with you? Until when will I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” ²⁰ And they brought him to Him. And having seen Him, the spirit immediately threw him into convulsions, and having fallen upon the ground, he began rolling around, foaming. ²¹ And He asked his father, “How long a time is it that this has been with him?” And he said, “From childhood. ²² And often it casts him both into fire and into waters, that it might destroy him. But if You are able to do anything, having compassion on us, help us.” ²³ And Jesus said to him, “If You are able? All things are possible to the one believing.” ²⁴ Immediately the father of the child, having cried out, was saying, “I believe; help my unbelief!” ²⁵ And Jesus, having seen that a crowd was running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and you may enter into him no more.” ²⁶ And it came out, having cried out and having thrown him into many convulsions; and he became as if dead, in order for many to say that he was dead. ²⁷ And Jesus, having taken him by the hand, raised him up, and he arose. ²⁸ And He having entered into the house, His disciples were asking Him in private, “Why were we not able to cast it out?” ²⁹ And He said to them, “This kind is able to go out by nothing except by prayer.”

⁸ For He was saying to him, “You come forth out of the man, unclean spirit!”

⁴² And while he was coming near, the demon threw him down, and threw him into convulsions. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

³³ And in the synagogue was a man having a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out in a loud voice, ³⁴ “Ha! What to us and to You, Jesus of Nazareth? Are You come to destroy us? I know who You are, the Holy One of God!” ³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and come forth out of him!” And having thrown him into the midst, the demon came out from him, in nothing having hurt him. ³⁶ And astonishment came upon all, and they were speaking to one another, saying, “What word is this, that He commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they come out?”

¹⁷ And the seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.”

⁴⁹ And John answering said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we were forbidding him, because he does not follow with us.” ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid it; for whoever is not against us is for us.”

²⁰ But if I cast out the demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

¹⁸ And she continued this for many days. And Paul having been distressed and having turned, said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out from her.” And it came out that hour.

¹³ Now some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, also attempted to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those having evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by Jesus, whom Paul proclaims.” ¹⁴ And seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this. ¹⁵ But the evil spirit answering, said to them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with; but you, who are you?” ¹⁶ And the man in whom was the evil spirit, having leapt on them, having overpowered them all, prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs or aprons from his skin were brought to the ailing, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits left.

¹³ Because of this, take up the complete armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all things, to stand.

⁷ Therefore subject yourselves to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

¹⁸ because Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, so that He might bring you to God, having been put to death indeed in the flesh, but having been made alive in the spirit, ¹⁹ in which also having gone, He preached to the spirits in prison ²⁰ at one time having disobeyed, when the longsuffering of God was waiting in the days of Noah, of the ark being prepared, in which a few—that is, eight souls—were saved through water, ²¹ which also prefigures the baptism now saving you, not a putting away of the filth of flesh, but the demand of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, ²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to Him.

¹³ And He allowed them. And the unclean spirits having gone out, entered into the pigs, and the herd—about two thousand—rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.

³⁸ John answered Him, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we were forbidding him, because he was not following us.”

¹⁵ But the evil spirit answering, said to them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with; but you, who are you?”

¹¹ And God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, ¹² so that even handkerchiefs or aprons from his skin were brought to the ailing, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits left.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and upon all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

¹⁰ Henceforth be empowered in the Lord and in the strength of His might. ¹¹ Put on the complete armor of God, for you to be able to stand against the schemes of the devil, ¹² because to us the wrestling is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. ¹³ Because of this, take up the complete armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all things, to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having shod the feet with the readiness of the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ besides all, having taken up the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, ¹⁸ through all prayer and supplication, praying in the Spirit in every season and unto this very thing, watching with all perseverance and supplication for all saints,

⁸ Be sober-minded; watch. Your adversary the devil prowls about as a roaring lion seeking whom to devour,

¹⁶ The one having believed and having been baptized will be saved, but the one having disbelieved will be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs will accompany those having believed: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ and with their hands they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it shall never hurt them; they will lay hands upon the sick, and they will be well.”
