⁴² And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful, wise manager, whom the master will set over the care of his servants, to give them the measure of food in season? ⁴³ Blessed is that servant whom, having come, his master will find thus doing. ⁴⁴ Of a truth I say to you that he will set him over all his possessions. ⁴⁵ But if that servant should say in his heart, ‘My master delays to come,’ and should begin to beat the men-servants and the maid-servants, and to eat and to drink and to get drunk, ⁴⁶ the master of that servant will come in a day in which he does not expect, and in an hour that he does not know, and he will cut him in two and will appoint him a place with the unbelievers.

¹³ No temptation has seized you, except what is common to man. And God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will also provide with the temptation the escape, to be able to endure it.

³ Let the husband fulfill the duty to the wife, and likewise also the wife to the husband. ⁴ The wife does not have authority over the own body, but the husband; and likewise also, the husband does not have authority over the own body, but the wife. ⁵ Do not deprive one another, except by mutual agreement, for a time, that you might be at leisure for prayer; and be together the same again, so that Satan may not tempt you through your lack of self-control.

⁹ With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, those being made according to the likeness of God. ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceed forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. ¹¹ Does the spring pour forth out of the same opening both fresh and bitter? ¹² Is a fig tree able, my brothers, to produce olives? Or a vine, figs? Neither is a salt spring able to produce fresh water.

¹⁰ For we must all be revealed before the judgment seat of Christ, that each may receive back the things done through the body according to what he did, whether good or evil.

¹ As many as are under a yoke as slaves, let them esteem the own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching should not be blasphemed.

¹ Likewise wives, be subject to the own husbands so that, even if any are disobedient to the word, they will be won over without word by the conduct of the wives,

¹ James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings. ² Esteem it all joy, my brothers, when you might fall into various trials, ³ knowing that testing of your faith produces endurance. ⁴ And let endurance have its perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. ⁵ Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask from God, the One giving generously to all and not finding fault, and it will be given to him. ⁶ But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing, for the one doubting is like a wave of the sea, being blown and being tossed by the wind. ⁷ For let that man not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord. ⁸ He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. ⁹ But let the brother of low degree boast in his exaltation, ¹⁰ and he who is rich, in his humiliation, because he will pass away like a flower of grass. ¹¹ For the sun has risen with its burning heat and withered the grass, and its flower has fallen, and the beauty of its appearance has perished. Thus also the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits. ¹² Blessed is the man who endures trial, because, having been approved, he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those loving Him. ¹³ Let no one being tempted say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God is unable to be tempted by evils, and He Himself tempts no one. ¹⁴ But a man is tempted, being drawn away and being enticed by the own desire. ¹⁵ Then desire having conceived, gives birth to sin; and sin having become fully grown, brings forth death. ¹⁶ Do not be misled, my beloved brothers. ¹⁷ Every good act of giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of shifting. ¹⁸ Having willed it, He brought us forth by the word of truth, for us to be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. ¹⁹ Know this, my beloved brothers. But let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow unto anger; ²⁰ for man’s anger does not produce the righteousness of God. ²¹ Therefore, having put aside all filthiness and abounding of wickedness, receive in humility the implanted word, being able to save your souls. ²² But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves, ²³ because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror, ²⁴ for he has viewed himself and has gone away, and immediately he has forgotten of what manner he was. ²⁵ But the one having looked intently into the perfect law, that of freedom, and having continued in it, not having been a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work—this one will be blessed in his work. ²⁶ If anyone seems to be religious, not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, the religion of this one is worthless. ²⁷ Pure and undefiled religion before the God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation; to keep oneself unstained from the world.

¹⁰ Then Jesus says to him, “Get you away, Satan! For it has been written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.’”

⁹ If we should confess our sins, He is faithful and just, that He may forgive us our sins and might cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

²⁴ Let no one seek the good of himself, but that of the other.

¹⁸ if possible of you, living at peace with all men;

¹ My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you might not sin. And if anyone should sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous One. ² And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. ³ And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we should keep His commandments. ⁴ The one saying, “I have known Him,” and not keeping His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ⁵ But whoever may keep His word, truly in him the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: ⁶ The one claiming to abide in Him ought also walk just as in the same way that He walked. ⁷ Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you have heard. ⁸ Again, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light already shines. ⁹ The one claiming to be in the light and hating his brother is in the darkness even until now. ¹⁰ The one loving his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. ¹¹ But the one hating his brother is in the darkness, and walks in the darkness; and he knows not where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. ¹² I am writing to you, little children, because the sins have been forgiven you for the sake of His name. ¹³ I am writing to you, fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, little children, because you know the Father. ¹⁴ I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. ¹⁵ Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone should love the world, the love of the Father is not in him, ¹⁶ because all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the vaunting of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. ¹⁷ And the world is passing away, and its desire; but the one doing the will of God abides to the age. ¹⁸ Little children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen, whereby we know that it is the last hour. ¹⁹ They went out from among us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But it is so that it might be made manifest that they are not all of us. ²⁰ And you have the anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know. ²¹ I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because any lie is not of the truth. ²² Who is the liar, except the one denying that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one denying the Father and the Son. ²³ Everyone denying the Son does not have the Father. The one confessing the Son has the Father also. ²⁴ You, let what you have heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you have heard from the beginning should abide in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. ²⁵ And this is the promise that He promised us: eternal life. ²⁶ I have written these things to you concerning those leading you astray. ²⁷ And you, the anointing that you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But just as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things and is true and is no lie, and just as it has taught you, you shall abide in Him. ²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears we might have boldness and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. ²⁹ If you know that He is righteous, you know also that everyone practicing righteousness has been begotten of Him.

² And do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, for you to prove what is the good and well-pleasing and perfect will of God.

¹¹ And do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them.

²⁰ Children, obey the parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.

³³ Do not be misled: “Bad companionships corrupt good morals.”
