²⁴ Then Jesus said His to disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁵ For whoever might desire to save his life will lose it; but whoever might lose his life on account of Me will find it.

³⁴ A new commandment I give to you, that you should love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. ³⁵ By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love among one another.”

⁴⁰ A disciple is not above the teacher, and everyone fully trained will be like his teacher.

¹ I am the true vine and My Father is the vinedresser. ² Every branch not bearing fruit in Me, He takes it away; and every one bearing fruit, He prunes it that it may bear more fruit. ³ Already you are clean by reason of the word that I have spoken to you. ⁴ Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch is not able to bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither you, unless you abide in Me. ⁵ I am the vine; you are the branches. The one abiding in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit. For apart from Me you are able to do nothing. ⁶ If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown out like the branch and is dried up, and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and it is burned. ⁷ If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and to you it will come to pass. ⁸ In this My Father is glorified, that you should bear much fruit, and you shall be My disciples. ⁹ As the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you. Abide in My Love. ¹⁰ If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. ¹¹ These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you and your joy may be full. ¹² This is My commandment, that you love one another as I loved you. ¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends. ¹⁴ You are My friends, if you do what I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because all things that I heard from My Father, I have made known to you. ¹⁶ You did not chose Me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and you should bear fruit, and your fruit should remain, so that whatever you might ask the Father in My name, He may give you. ¹⁷ These things I command you, that you love one another.

²⁶ “If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters and yes, even his life, he is not able to be My disciple.

³³ So therefore every one of you who does not give up all that he himself possesses, is not able to be My disciple.

¹ Be imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.

¹ But you, speak the things that are consistent with the sound doctrine. ² The aged men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, in endurance; ³ the aged women likewise reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not being enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good, ⁴ so that they may train the young women to be lovers of their husbands, loving their children, ⁵ self-controlled, pure, keepers at home, kind, being subject to the own husbands, so that the word of God should not be maligned. ⁶ Likewise, exhort the younger men to be self-controlled. ⁷ In all things be holding forth yourself as a pattern of good works, in the teaching, integrity, dignity, ⁸ and sound speech beyond reproach, so that he who is of the contrary may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning us.

³¹ Therefore Jesus was saying to the Jews having believed in Him, “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples. ³² And you will know the truth, and the truth will set free you.”

²³ And He was saying to all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and let him take up his cross every day, and let him follow Me.

⁴² Now they were steadfastly continuing in the teaching of the apostles, and in the fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers.

² And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be competent to teach others also.

¹¹ And He gave some indeed to be apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers, ¹² toward the perfecting of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all may attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a complete man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, ¹⁴ so that no longer we might be infants, being tossed by waves and being carried about by every wind of teaching in the cunning, in the craftiness of men with a view to the scheming of deceit. ¹⁵ But speaking the truth in love, we should grow up in all things into Him who is the head, Christ, ¹⁶ from whom the whole body, being joined together and being held together by every ligament of its supply, according to the working in the measure of each individual part, the increase of the body makes for itself, to the building up of itself in love. ¹⁷ This therefore I say and testify in the Lord: You are no longer to walk as also the Gentiles are walking, in the futility of their mind,

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city lying on a hill is unable to be hidden. ¹⁵ Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but upon the lampstand, and it gives light to all those in the house. ¹⁶ Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and they should glorify your Father in the heavens.

²⁷ Whoever does not carry his cross and come after Me is not able to be My disciple.

¹⁸ And having come to them, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on the earth has been given to Me. ¹⁹ Therefore having gone, disciple all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age.”
