¹ Μὴ (Not) ταρασσέσθω (let be troubled) ὑμῶν (of you) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart). πιστεύετε (You believe) εἰς (in) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καὶ (also) εἰς (in) ἐμὲ (Me) πιστεύετε (believe).

³ Ἐν (In) σαρκὶ (flesh) γὰρ (for) περιπατοῦντες (walking), οὐ (not) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) στρατευόμεθα (do we wage war).

¹ Τῇ (In) ἐλευθερίᾳ (freedom), ἡμᾶς (us) Χριστὸς (Christ) ἠλευθέρωσεν (has set free); στήκετε (stand firm), οὖν (therefore), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) πάλιν (again) ζυγῷ (in a yoke) δουλείας (of slavery) ἐνέχεσθε (entangle yourselves).

⁸ Ἦτε (You were) γάρ (for) ποτε (once) σκότος (darkness); νῦν (now) δὲ (however), φῶς (light) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord); ὡς (as) τέκνα (children) φωτὸς (of light) περιπατεῖτε (walk)—

¹⁵ ἀπεκδυσάμενος (Having disarmed) τὰς (the) ἀρχὰς (rulers) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) ἐξουσίας (authorities), ἐδειγμάτισεν (He made a show of them) ἐν (in) παρρησίᾳ (public), θριαμβεύσας (having triumphed) αὐτοὺς (over them) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it).

¹⁹ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Θεός (the God) μου (of me) πληρώσει (will fill up) πᾶσαν (all) χρείαν (the needs) ὑμῶν (of you), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) πλοῦτος (riches) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐν (in) δόξῃ (glory) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).

²⁴ ἕως (Until) ἄρτι (now) οὐκ (not) ᾐτήσατε (you have asked) οὐδὲν (nothing) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματί (name) μου (of Me). αἰτεῖτε (Ask) καὶ (and) λήμψεσθε (you will receive), ἵνα (that) ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ὑμῶν (of you) ᾖ (may be) πεπληρωμένη (full).

⁷ ἐν (in) ᾧ (whom) ἔχομεν (we have) τὴν (-) ἀπολύτρωσιν (redemption) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) αἵματος (blood) αὐτοῦ (of Him), τὴν (the) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) τῶν (-) παραπτωμάτων (of trespasses), κατὰ (according to) τὸ (the) πλοῦτος (riches) τῆς (of the) χάριτος (grace) αὐτοῦ (of Him),

⁹ Ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) γένος (are a race) ἐκλεκτόν (chosen), βασίλειον (a royal) ἱεράτευμα (priesthood), ἔθνος (a nation) ἅγιον (holy), λαὸς (a people) εἰς (for His) περιποίησιν (possession), ὅπως (so that) τὰς (the) ἀρετὰς (excellencies) ἐξαγγείλητε (you may proclaim) τοῦ (of the One) ἐκ (out of) σκότους (darkness) ὑμᾶς (you) καλέσαντος (having called), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) θαυμαστὸν (marvelous) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φῶς (light),

¹ Δικαιωθέντες (Having been justified) οὖν (therefore) ἐκ (by) πίστεως (faith), εἰρήνην (peace) ἔχομεν* (we have) πρὸς (with) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God), διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ² δι’ (through) οὗ (whom) καὶ (also) τὴν (-) προσαγωγὴν (access) ἐσχήκαμεν (we have) τῇ (by the) πίστει (faith) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) χάριν (grace) ταύτην (this) ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) ἑστήκαμεν (we stand); καὶ (and) καυχώμεθα (we boast) ἐπ’ (in) ἐλπίδι (hope) τῆς (of the) δόξης (glory) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God). ³ Οὐ (Not) μόνον (only so) δέ (now), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) καυχώμεθα (we glory) ἐν (in) ταῖς (-) θλίψεσιν (tribulations), εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ἡ (-) θλῖψις (tribulation), ὑπομονὴν (perseverance) κατεργάζεται (produces); ⁴ ἡ (-) δὲ (And) ὑπομονὴ (perseverance), δοκιμήν (character); ἡ (-) δὲ (and) δοκιμὴ (character), ἐλπίδα (hope). ⁵ ἡ (-) δὲ (And) ἐλπὶς (hope) οὐ (not) καταισχύνει (does make us ashamed), ὅτι (because) ἡ (the) ἀγάπη (love) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐκκέχυται (has been poured out) ἐν (into) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ἡμῶν (of us) διὰ (through) Πνεύματος (the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), τοῦ (the One) δοθέντος (having been given) ἡμῖν (to us). ⁶ Ἔτι (Yet) γὰρ (indeed) Χριστὸς (Christ), ὄντων (being) ἡμῶν (of us) ἀσθενῶν (without strength) ἔτι (still), κατὰ (according to) καιρὸν (the right time), ὑπὲρ (for) ἀσεβῶν (the ungodly) ἀπέθανεν (died).

¹⁴ Τῷ (To) δὲ (however) Θεῷ (God) χάρις (be thanks), τῷ (the One) πάντοτε (always) θριαμβεύοντι (leading in triumph) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) Χριστῷ (Christ), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) ὀσμὴν (fragrance) τῆς (of the) γνώσεως (knowledge) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φανεροῦντι (making manifest) δι’ (through) ἡμῶν (us) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τόπῳ (place).
