¹ Ὀψὲ (After) δὲ (then) σαββάτων (the Sabbaths), τῇ (it) ἐπιφωσκούσῃ (being dawn) εἰς (toward) μίαν (the first day) σαββάτων (of the week), ἦλθεν (came) Μαριὰμ (Mary) ἡ (-) Μαγδαληνὴ (Magdalene) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) ἄλλη (other) Μαρία (Mary), θεωρῆσαι (to see) τὸν (the) τάφον (tomb). ² Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), σεισμὸς (an earthquake) ἐγένετο (there was) μέγας (great); ἄγγελος (an angel) γὰρ (for) Κυρίου (of the Lord), καταβὰς (having descended) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) προσελθὼν (having come), ἀπεκύλισεν (rolled away) τὸν (the) λίθον (stone) καὶ (and) ἐκάθητο (was sitting) ἐπάνω (upon) αὐτοῦ (it). ³ ἦν (Was) δὲ (now) ἡ (the) εἰδέα (appearance) αὐτοῦ (of him) ὡς (like) ἀστραπὴ (lightning), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) ἔνδυμα (clothing) αὐτοῦ (of him) λευκὸν (white) ὡς (as) χιών (snow). ⁴ ἀπὸ (From) δὲ (now) τοῦ (the) φόβου (fear) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐσείσθησαν (trembled) οἱ (those) τηροῦντες (keeping guard) καὶ (and) ἐγενήθησαν (became) ὡς (as) νεκροί (dead men). ⁵ Ἀποκριθεὶς (Answering) δὲ (now), ὁ (the) ἄγγελος (angel) εἶπεν (said) ταῖς (to the) γυναιξίν (women), “Μὴ (Not) φοβεῖσθε (fear) ὑμεῖς (you); οἶδα (I know) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τὸν (the One) ἐσταυρωμένον (having been crucified), ζητεῖτε (you seek). ⁶ οὐκ (Not) ἔστιν (He is) ὧδε (here); ἠγέρθη (He is risen) γὰρ (for), καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (He said). δεῦτε (Come), ἴδετε (see) τὸν (the) τόπον (place) ὅπου (where) ἔκειτο (He was lying). ⁷ καὶ (And) ταχὺ (quickly) πορευθεῖσαι (having gone), εἴπατε (say) τοῖς (to the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ὅτι (that) Ἠγέρθη (He is risen) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead) καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), προάγει (He goes before) ὑμᾶς (you) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee); ἐκεῖ (there) αὐτὸν (Him) ὄψεσθε (you will see). ἰδοὺ (Behold), εἶπον (I have told) ὑμῖν (you).” ⁸ Καὶ (And) ἀπελθοῦσαι (having gone out) ταχὺ (quickly) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) μνημείου (tomb) μετὰ (with) φόβου (fear) καὶ (and) χαρᾶς (joy) μεγάλης (great), ἔδραμον (they ran) ἀπαγγεῖλαι (to tell) τοῖς (the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him). ⁹ καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ὑπήντησεν (met) αὐταῖς (them), λέγων (saying), “Χαίρετε (Greetings)!” αἱ (-) δὲ (And) προσελθοῦσαι (having come to Him), ἐκράτησαν (they took hold of) αὐτοῦ (His) τοὺς (-) πόδας (feet) καὶ (and) προσεκύνησαν (worshiped) αὐτῷ (Him). ¹⁰ τότε (Then) λέγει (says) αὐταῖς (to them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Μὴ (Not) φοβεῖσθε (fear). ὑπάγετε (Go), ἀπαγγείλατε (tell) τοῖς (the) ἀδελφοῖς (brothers), μου (of Me) ἵνα (so that) ἀπέλθωσιν (they should go) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee), κἀκεῖ (and there) με (Me) ὄψονται (will they see).” ¹¹ Πορευομένων (As were going) δὲ (now) αὐτῶν (they), ἰδού (behold), τινες (some) τῆς (of the) κουστωδίας (guard), ἐλθόντες (having gone) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), ἀπήγγειλαν (reported) τοῖς (to the) ἀρχιερεῦσιν (chief priests) ἅπαντα (all) τὰ (the things) γενόμενα (having been done). ¹² καὶ (And) συναχθέντες (having been gathered together) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), συμβούλιόν (counsel) τε (then) λαβόντες (having taken), ἀργύρια (silver pieces) ἱκανὰ (many) ἔδωκαν (they gave) τοῖς (to the) στρατιώταις (soldiers), ¹³ λέγοντες (saying), “Εἴπατε (Say) ὅτι (that) Οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), νυκτὸς (by night) ἐλθόντες (having come), ἔκλεψαν (stole) αὐτὸν (Him), ἡμῶν (we) κοιμωμένων (being asleep). ¹⁴ καὶ (And) ἐὰν (if) ἀκουσθῇ (is heard) τοῦτο (this) ἐπὶ (by) τοῦ (the) ἡγεμόνος (governor), ἡμεῖς (we) πείσομεν (will persuade) ‹αὐτὸν› (him), καὶ (and) ὑμᾶς (you) ἀμερίμνους (out of trouble) ποιήσομεν (will keep).” ¹⁵ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) λαβόντες (having taken) ‹τὰ› (the) ἀργύρια (money), ἐποίησαν (they did) ὡς (as) ἐδιδάχθησαν (they were instructed). Καὶ (And) διεφημίσθη (is spread abroad) ὁ (the) λόγος (report) οὗτος (this) παρὰ (among the) Ἰουδαίοις (Jews), μέχρι (until) τῆς (the) σήμερον (present) ἡμέρας (day). ¹⁶ Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) ἕνδεκα (the eleven) μαθηταὶ (disciples) ἐπορεύθησαν (went) εἰς (into) τὴν (-) Γαλιλαίαν (Galilee), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) ὄρος (mountain) οὗ (where) ἐτάξατο (assigned) αὐτοῖς (them) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus). ¹⁷ καὶ (And) ἰδόντες (having seen) αὐτὸν (Him) προσεκύνησαν (they worshiped); οἱ (some) δὲ (however) ἐδίστασαν (doubted). ¹⁸ Καὶ (And) προσελθὼν (having come to them), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ἐλάλησεν (spoke) αὐτοῖς (to them), λέγων (saying), “Ἐδόθη (Has been given) μοι (to Me) πᾶσα (all) ἐξουσία (authority) ἐν (in) οὐρανῷ (heaven) καὶ (and) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth). ¹⁹ πορευθέντες (Having gone) οὖν (therefore), μαθητεύσατε (disciple) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (nations), βαπτίζοντες (baptizing) αὐτοὺς (them) εἰς (in) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Υἱοῦ (Son), καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit), ²⁰ διδάσκοντες (teaching) αὐτοὺς (them) τηρεῖν (to observe) πάντα (all things), ὅσα (whatever) ἐνετειλάμην (I commanded) ὑμῖν (you). καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἐγὼ (I) μεθ’ (with) ὑμῶν (you) εἰμι (am) πάσας (all) τὰς (the) ἡμέρας (days), ἕως (until) τῆς (the) συντελείας (completion) τοῦ (of the) αἰῶνος (age).”

¹¹ Εἰσελθὼν (Having entered in) δὲ (then) ὁ (the) βασιλεὺς (king) θεάσασθαι (to see) τοὺς (those) ἀνακειμένους (reclining), εἶδεν (he beheld) ἐκεῖ (there) ἄνθρωπον (a man) οὐκ (not) ἐνδεδυμένον (being dressed) ἔνδυμα (in clothes) γάμου (of wedding);

²⁴ ὃν (whom) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἀνέστησεν (raised up), λύσας (having loosed) τὰς (the) ὠδῖνας (agony) τοῦ (of) θανάτου (death), καθότι (inasmuch as) οὐκ (not) ἦν (it was) δυνατὸν (possible) κρατεῖσθαι (for to be held) αὐτὸν (Him) ὑπ’ (by) αὐτοῦ (it). ²⁵ Δαυὶδ (David) γὰρ (for) λέγει (says) εἰς (about) αὐτόν (Him): ‘Προορώμην (I foresaw) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἐνώπιόν (before) μου (me) διὰ (continually) παντός (everything), ὅτι (because) ἐκ (at the) δεξιῶν (right hand) μού (of me) ἐστιν (He is), ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) σαλευθῶ (I should be shaken). ²⁶ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) ηὐφράνθη (was glad) μου (of me) «ἡ (the) καρδία» (heart), καὶ (and) ἠγαλλιάσατο (rejoiced) ἡ (the) γλῶσσά (tongue) μου (of me); ἔτι (and) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) ἡ (the) σάρξ (flesh) μου (of me) κατασκηνώσει (will dwell) ἐπ’ (in) ἐλπίδι (hope), ²⁷ ὅτι (for) οὐκ (not) ἐνκαταλείψεις (You will abandon) τὴν (the) ψυχήν (soul) μου (of me) εἰς (into) ᾅδην (Hades), οὐδὲ (nor) δώσεις (will You allow) τὸν (the) Ὅσιόν (Holy One) σου (of You) ἰδεῖν (to see) διαφθοράν (decay). ²⁸ ἐγνώρισάς (You have made known) μοι (to me) ὁδοὺς (the paths) ζωῆς (of life); πληρώσεις (You will fill) με (me) εὐφροσύνης (with joy) μετὰ (in) τοῦ (the) προσώπου (presence) σου (of You).’ ²⁹ Ἄνδρες (Men), ἀδελφοί (brothers), ἐξὸν (it is permitted me) εἰπεῖν (to speak) μετὰ (with) παρρησίας (freedom) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) πατριάρχου (patriarch) Δαυὶδ (David), ὅτι (that) καὶ (both) ἐτελεύτησεν (he died) καὶ (and) ἐτάφη (was buried), καὶ (and) τὸ (the) μνῆμα (tomb) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἔστιν (is) ἐν (among) ἡμῖν (us) ἄχρι (unto) τῆς (the) ἡμέρας (day) ταύτης (this). ³⁰ προφήτης (A prophet) οὖν (therefore) ὑπάρχων (being), καὶ (and) εἰδὼς (knowing) ὅτι (that) ὅρκῳ (with an oath) ὤμοσεν (swore) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) ἐκ (out of the) καρποῦ (fruit) τῆς (of the) ὀσφύος (loins) αὐτοῦ (of him) καθίσαι (to set) ἐπὶ (upon) τὸν (the) θρόνον (throne) αὐτοῦ (of him). ³¹ προϊδὼν (Having foreseen), ἐλάλησεν (he spoke) περὶ (concerning) τῆς (the) ἀναστάσεως (resurrection) τοῦ (of the) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ὅτι (that) οὔτε (neither) ἐνκατελείφθη (was He abandoned) εἰς (into) ᾅδην (Hades), οὔτε (nor) ἡ (the) σὰρξ (flesh) αὐτοῦ (of Him) εἶδεν (saw) διαφθοράν (decay). ³² Τοῦτον (This) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἀνέστησεν (has raised up) ὁ (-) Θεός (God), οὗ (whereof) πάντες (all) ἡμεῖς (we) ἐσμεν (are) μάρτυρες (witnesses). ³³ τῇ (To the) δεξιᾷ (right hand) οὖν (therefore) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ὑψωθεὶς (having been exalted), τήν (-) τε (and) ἐπαγγελίαν (the promise) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit) τοῦ (-) Ἁγίου (Holy) λαβὼν (having received) παρὰ (from) τοῦ (the) Πατρὸς (Father), ἐξέχεεν (He has poured out) τοῦτο (this) ὃ (which) ὑμεῖς (you) καὶ (both) βλέπετε (are seeing) καὶ (and) ἀκούετε (hearing). ³⁴ Οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) Δαυὶδ (David) ἀνέβη (ascended) εἰς (into) τοὺς (the) οὐρανούς (heavens); λέγει (he says) δὲ (however) αὐτός (himself): ‘Εἶπεν (Said) ‹ὁ› (the) Κύριος (Lord) τῷ (to) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) μου (of me), Κάθου (Sit) ἐκ (at) δεξιῶν (the right hand) μου (of Me), ³⁵ ἕως (until) ἂν (-) θῶ (I place) τοὺς (the) ἐχθρούς (enemies) σου (of You), ὑποπόδιον (a footstool) τῶν (of the) ποδῶν (feet) σου (of You).’ ³⁶ Ἀσφαλῶς (Assuredly) οὖν (therefore) γινωσκέτω (let know) πᾶς (all) οἶκος (the house) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel) ὅτι (that) καὶ (both) Κύριον (Lord) αὐτὸν (Him) καὶ (and) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐποίησεν (has made) ὁ (-) Θεός (God) — τοῦτον (this) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) ἐσταυρώσατε (crucified).”

⁹ Ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) γένος (are a race) ἐκλεκτόν (chosen), βασίλειον (a royal) ἱεράτευμα (priesthood), ἔθνος (a nation) ἅγιον (holy), λαὸς (a people) εἰς (for His) περιποίησιν (possession), ὅπως (so that) τὰς (the) ἀρετὰς (excellencies) ἐξαγγείλητε (you may proclaim) τοῦ (of the One) ἐκ (out of) σκότους (darkness) ὑμᾶς (you) καλέσαντος (having called), εἰς (to) τὸ (the) θαυμαστὸν (marvelous) αὐτοῦ (of Him) φῶς (light),

¹ Καὶ (And) εἶδον (I saw) οὐρανὸν (a heaven) καινὸν (new), καὶ (and) γῆν (an earth) καινήν (new), ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) πρῶτος (the first) οὐρανὸς (heaven) καὶ (and) ἡ (the) πρώτη (first) γῆ (earth) ἀπῆλθαν (had passed away), καὶ (and) ἡ (the) θάλασσα (sea) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἔτι (any longer). ² καὶ (And) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city) τὴν (-) ἁγίαν (holy), Ἰερουσαλὴμ (the Jerusalem) καινὴν (new), εἶδον (I saw) καταβαίνουσαν (coming down) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), ἡτοιμασμένην (having been prepared) ὡς (as) νύμφην (a bride) κεκοσμημένην (having been adorned) τῷ (for the) ἀνδρὶ (husband) αὐτῆς (of her). ³ Καὶ (And) ἤκουσα (I heard) φωνῆς (a voice) μεγάλης (great) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne), λεγούσης (saying): “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ἡ (the) σκηνὴ (tabernacle) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) μετὰ (is with) τῶν (-) ἀνθρώπων (men), καὶ (and) σκηνώσει (He will tabernacle) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them), καὶ (and) αὐτοὶ (they) λαοὶ (peoples) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἔσονται (will be), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (Himself) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) ἔσται (will be) [αὐτῶν (as their) θεός] (God). ⁴ καὶ (And) ἐξαλείψει (He will wipe away) πᾶν (every) δάκρυον (tear) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ὁ (-) θάνατος (death) οὐκ (not) ἔσται (will be) ἔτι (any longer) οὔτε (nor) πένθος (mourning) οὔτε (nor) κραυγὴ (crying) οὔτε (nor) πόνος (pain); οὐκ (not) ἔσται (they will be) ἔτι (any longer), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) πρῶτα (former things) ἀπῆλθαν (have passed away).”

¹³ Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (answered) εἷς (one) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) πρεσβυτέρων (elders), λέγων (saying) μοι (to me), “Οὗτοι (These) οἱ (-) περιβεβλημένοι (having been clothed with) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) τὰς (-) λευκὰς (white), τίνες (who) εἰσὶν (are they), καὶ (and) πόθεν (from where) ἦλθον (have they come)?”

¹¹ Καὶ (And) ἐδόθη (were given) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἑκάστῳ (each) στολὴ (robes) λευκή (white), καὶ (and) ἐρρέθη (it was said) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἵνα (that) ἀναπαύσονται (they shall rest) ἔτι (yet) χρόνον (a time) μικρόν (little), ἕως (until) πληρωθῶσιν (would be fulfilled) καὶ (also) οἱ (the) σύνδουλοι (fellow servants) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀδελφοὶ (brothers) αὐτῶν (of them), οἱ (those) μέλλοντες (being about) ἀποκτέννεσθαι (to be killed) ὡς (as) καὶ (also had been) αὐτοί (they).

¹⁴ Μακάριοι (Blessed are) οἱ (those) πλύνοντες (washing) τὰς (the) στολὰς (robes) αὐτῶν (of them), ἵνα (that) ἔσται (will be) ἡ (the) ἐξουσία (right) αὐτῶν (of them) ἐπὶ (to) τὸ (the) ξύλον (tree) τῆς (-) ζωῆς (of life), καὶ (and) τοῖς (by the) πυλῶσιν (gates) εἰσέλθωσιν (they shall enter) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city).

⁹ Μετὰ (After) ταῦτα (these things) εἶδον (I looked), καὶ (and) ἰδοὺ (behold), ὄχλος (a multitude) πολύς (great), ὃν (which) ἀριθμῆσαι (to number) αὐτὸν (it) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἐδύνατο (was able), ἐκ (out of) παντὸς (every) ἔθνους (nation), καὶ (and) φυλῶν (tribes), καὶ (and) λαῶν (peoples), καὶ (and) γλωσσῶν (tongues), ἑστῶτες (standing) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) θρόνου (throne) καὶ (and) ἐνώπιον (before) τοῦ (the) Ἀρνίου (Lamb), περιβεβλημένους (having been clothed with) στολὰς (robes) λευκάς (white), καὶ (and) φοίνικες (palm branches) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) χερσὶν (hands) αὐτῶν (of them).
