³³ ζητεῖτε (Seek) δὲ (however) πρῶτον (first) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) [τοῦ (of) θεοῦ] (God) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) δικαιοσύνην (righteousness) αὐτοῦ (of Him), καὶ (and) ταῦτα (these things) πάντα (all) προστεθήσεται (will be added) ὑμῖν (to you).

³⁵ Ἔστωσαν (Let be) ὑμῶν (your) αἱ (-) ὀσφύες (waist) περιεζωσμέναι (girded about), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) λύχνοι (lamps) καιόμενοι (burning);

⁴⁰ καὶ (Also) ὑμεῖς (you) γίνεσθε (be) ἕτοιμοι (ready); ὅτι (for) ᾗ (in the) ὥρᾳ (hour) οὐ (not) δοκεῖτε (you expect), ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἔρχεται (comes).”

⁴ ἡμᾶς (Us) δεῖ (it behooves) ἐργάζεσθαι (to work) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τοῦ (of the One) πέμψαντός (having sent) με (Me), ἕως (while) ἡμέρα (day) ἐστίν (it is); ἔρχεται (is coming) νὺξ (night), ὅτε (when) οὐδεὶς (no one) δύναται (is able) ἐργάζεσθαι (to work).

²⁰ εἰ (If) δὲ (now) ὃ (what) οὐ (not) θέλω (I do want), ἐγὼ (I) τοῦτο (this) ποιῶ (do), οὐκέτι (it is no longer) ἐγὼ (I) κατεργάζομαι (who do) αὐτὸ (it), ἀλλὰ (but) ἡ (-) οἰκοῦσα (dwelling) ἐν (in) ἐμοὶ (me) ἁμαρτία (sin). ²¹ Εὑρίσκω (I find) ἄρα (so) τὸν (the) νόμον (principle), τῷ (that) θέλοντι (desiring) ἐμοὶ (me) ποιεῖν (to do) τὸ (-) καλὸν (good), ὅτι (that) ἐμοὶ (me) τὸ (-) κακὸν (evil) παράκειται (is present with).

¹¹ πᾶσα (All) δὲ* (now) παιδεία (discipline), πρὸς (for) μὲν (indeed) τὸ (those) παρὸν (being present), οὐ (not) δοκεῖ (seems) χαρᾶς (of joy) εἶναι (to be), ἀλλὰ (but) λύπης (of grief); ὕστερον (afterward) δὲ (however), καρπὸν (the fruit) εἰρηνικὸν (peaceable), τοῖς (to those) δι’ (by) αὐτῆς (it) γεγυμνασμένοις (having been trained), ἀποδίδωσιν (it yields) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness).

¹³ πάντα (For all things) ἰσχύω (I have strength) ἐν (in) τῷ (the One) ἐνδυναμοῦντί (strengthening) με (me).

⁵⁹ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) ἕτερον (another), “Ἀκολούθει (Follow) μοι (Me).” ὁ (-) Δὲ (But) εἶπεν (he said), “‹Κύριε› (Lord) Ἐπίτρεψόν (allow) μοι (me) πρῶτον (first), ἀπελθόντι (having gone away), θάψαι (to bury) τὸν (the) πατέρα (father) μου (of me).” ⁶⁰ Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἄφες (Leave) τοὺς (the) νεκροὺς (dead) θάψαι (to bury) τοὺς (-) ἑαυτῶν (their own) νεκρούς (dead); σὺ (you) δὲ (however), ἀπελθὼν (having gone forth), διάγγελλε (declare) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).” ⁶¹ Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) ἕτερος (another), “Ἀκολουθήσω (I will follow) σοι (You), Κύριε (Lord); πρῶτον (first) δὲ (however) ἐπίτρεψόν (allow) μοι (me) ἀποτάξασθαι (to bid farewell) τοῖς (to those) εἰς (at) τὸν (the) οἶκόν (home) μου (of me).” ⁶² Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Οὐδεὶς (No one) ἐπιβαλὼν (having laid) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand) ἐπ’ (upon) ἄροτρον (the plow), καὶ (and) βλέπων (looking) εἰς (on) τὰ (the things) ὀπίσω (behind), εὔθετός (fit) ἐστιν (is) τῇ (for the) βασιλείᾳ (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God).”

¹⁷ εἰδότι (To him knowing) οὖν (therefore) καλὸν (good) ποιεῖν (to do), καὶ (and) μὴ (not) ποιοῦντι (doing), ἁμαρτία (sin) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐστιν (it is).

¹⁵ Βλέπετε (Take heed) οὖν (therefore) ἀκριβῶς (carefully) πῶς (how) περιπατεῖτε (you walk), μὴ (not) ὡς (as) ἄσοφοι (unwise), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) σοφοί (wise), ¹⁶ ἐξαγοραζόμενοι (redeeming) τὸν (the) καιρόν (time), ὅτι (because) αἱ (the) ἡμέραι (days) πονηραί (evil) εἰσιν (are). ¹⁷ διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), μὴ (not) γίνεσθε (be) ἄφρονες (foolish), ἀλλὰ (but) συνίετε (understand) τί (what) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord is).
