⁴¹ Καὶ (And) καθίσας (having sat down) κατέναντι (opposite) τοῦ (the) γαζοφυλακίου (treasury), ἐθεώρει (He was watching) πῶς (how) ὁ (the) ὄχλος (crowd) βάλλει (cast) χαλκὸν (money) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) γαζοφυλάκιον (treasury); καὶ (and) πολλοὶ (many) πλούσιοι (rich) ἔβαλλον (were casting in) πολλά (much). ⁴² καὶ (And) ἐλθοῦσα (having come), μία (one) χήρα (widow) πτωχὴ (poor) ἔβαλεν (cast in) λεπτὰ (lepta) δύο (two), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) κοδράντης (a kodrantes). ⁴³ Καὶ (And) προσκαλεσάμενος (having called to Him) τοὺς (the) μαθητὰς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), εἶπεν (He says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἀμὴν (Truly) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) ἡ (the) χήρα (widow) αὕτη (this) ἡ (-) πτωχὴ (poor), πλεῖον (more) πάντων (than all) ἔβαλεν (has cast in) τῶν (of those) βαλλόντων (casting) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) γαζοφυλάκιον (treasury). ⁴⁴ πάντες (All) γὰρ (for) ἐκ (out of) τοῦ (that which) περισσεύοντος (was abounding) αὐτοῖς (to them) ἔβαλον (cast in); αὕτη (she) δὲ (however), ἐκ (out of) τῆς (the) ὑστερήσεως (poverty) αὐτῆς (of her), πάντα (all) ὅσα (as much as) εἶχεν (she had) ἔβαλεν (cast in), ὅλον (all) τὸν (the) βίον (livelihood) αὐτῆς (of her).”

³³ Πωλήσατε (Sell) τὰ (the) ὑπάρχοντα (possessions) ὑμῶν (of you) καὶ (and) δότε (give) ἐλεημοσύνην (alms); ποιήσατε (make) ἑαυτοῖς (to yourselves) βαλλάντια (purses) μὴ (not) παλαιούμενα (growing old), θησαυρὸν (a treasure) ἀνέκλειπτον (unfailing) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens), ὅπου (where) κλέπτης (thief) οὐκ (not) ἐγγίζει (does draw near), οὐδὲ (nor) σὴς (moth) διαφθείρει (destroy). ³⁴ ὅπου (Where) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) ὁ (the) θησαυρὸς (treasure) ὑμῶν (of you), ἐκεῖ (there) καὶ (also) ἡ (the) καρδία (heart) ὑμῶν (of you) ἔσται (will be).

¹⁷ Τοῖς (To the) πλουσίοις (rich) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) νῦν (present) αἰῶνι (age), παράγγελλε (instruct them) μὴ (not) ὑψηλοφρονεῖν (to be high-minded), μηδὲ (nor) ἠλπικέναι (to have hope) ἐπὶ (in) πλούτου (of riches) ἀδηλότητι (the uncertainty), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐπὶ (on) Θεῷ (God) τῷ (the One) παρέχοντι (providing) ἡμῖν (us) πάντα (all things) πλουσίως (richly) εἰς (for) ἀπόλαυσιν (enjoyment), ¹⁸ ἀγαθοεργεῖν (to do good), πλουτεῖν (to be rich) ἐν (in) ἔργοις (works) καλοῖς (good), εὐμεταδότους (generous in distributing) εἶναι (to be), κοινωνικούς (ready to share), ¹⁹ ἀποθησαυρίζοντας (treasuring up) ἑαυτοῖς (for themselves) θεμέλιον (a foundation) καλὸν (good) εἰς (for) τὸ (the) μέλλον (future), ἵνα (so that) ἐπιλάβωνται (they may take hold) τῆς (of) ὄντως (that which is indeed) ζωῆς (life).

³⁸ δίδοτε (Give), καὶ (and) δοθήσεται (it will be given) ὑμῖν (to you). μέτρον (Measure) καλὸν (good), πεπιεσμένον (pressed down), σεσαλευμένον (shaken together), ὑπερεκχυννόμενον (running over), δώσουσιν (will they put) εἰς (into) τὸν (the) κόλπον (lap) ὑμῶν (of you), ᾧ (with that) γὰρ (for) μέτρῳ (measure) μετρεῖτε (you measure), ἀντιμετρηθήσεται (it will be measured again) ὑμῖν (to you).”

³⁵ πάντα (In everything) ὑπέδειξα (I showed) ὑμῖν (you) ὅτι (that) οὕτως (by thus) κοπιῶντας (straining) δεῖ (it behooves us) ἀντιλαμβάνεσθαι (to aid) τῶν (those) ἀσθενούντων (being weak), μνημονεύειν (to remember) τε (and also) τῶν (the) λόγων (words) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus), ὅτι (how) αὐτὸς (He Himself) εἶπεν (said), ‘Μακάριόν (Blessed) ἐστιν (it is) μᾶλλον (more) διδόναι (to give) ἢ (than) λαμβάνειν (to receive).’”

⁶ Τοῦτο (This) δέ (now): ὁ (The one) σπείρων (sowing) φειδομένως (sparingly), φειδομένως (sparingly) καὶ (also) θερίσει (will reap); καὶ (and) ὁ (the one) σπείρων (sowing) ἐπ’ (upon) εὐλογίαις (blessings), ἐπ’ (upon) εὐλογίαις (blessings) καὶ (also) θερίσει (will reap), ⁷ ἕκαστος (each) καθὼς (as) προῄρηται (he purposes) τῇ (in the) καρδίᾳ (heart), μὴ (not) ἐκ (out of) λύπης (regret) ἢ (or) ἐξ (of) ἀνάγκης (necessity); ἱλαρὸν (a cheerful) γὰρ (for) δότην (giver) ἀγαπᾷ (loves) ὁ (-) Θεός (God). ⁸ δυνατεῖ (Able is) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Θεὸς (God) πᾶσαν (all) χάριν (grace) περισσεῦσαι (to make abound) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you), ἵνα (so that) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way), πάντοτε (always), πᾶσαν (all) αὐτάρκειαν (sufficiency) ἔχοντες (having), περισσεύητε (you may abound) εἰς (in) πᾶν (every) ἔργον (work) ἀγαθόν (good). ⁹ καθὼς (As) γέγραπται (it has been written): “Ἐσκόρπισεν (He has scattered abroad), ἔδωκεν (He has given) τοῖς (to the) πένησιν (poor), ἡ (the) δικαιοσύνη (righteousness) αὐτοῦ (of Him) μένει (abides) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age).” ¹⁰ Ὁ (The One) δὲ (now) ἐπιχορηγῶν (supplying) σπόρον* (seed) τῷ (to him) σπείροντι (sowing) καὶ (and) ἄρτον (bread) εἰς (for) βρῶσιν (food) χορηγήσει (will supply) καὶ (and) πληθυνεῖ (will multiply) τὸν (the) σπόρον (seed for sowing) ὑμῶν (of you) καὶ (and) αὐξήσει (will increase) τὰ (the) γενήματα (fruits) τῆς (of the) δικαιοσύνης (righteousness) ὑμῶν (of you), ¹¹ ἐν (in) παντὶ (every way) πλουτιζόμενοι (enriching you) εἰς (to) πᾶσαν (all) ἁπλότητα (generosity), ἥτις (which) κατεργάζεται (produces), δι’ (through) ἡμῶν (us), εὐχαριστίαν (thanksgiving) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God). ¹² ὅτι (For) ἡ (the) διακονία (ministry) τῆς (of the) λειτουργίας (service) ταύτης (this) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐστὶν (is) προσαναπληροῦσα (completely filling up) τὰ (the) ὑστερήματα (needs) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) περισσεύουσα (is overflowing) διὰ (through) πολλῶν (many) εὐχαριστιῶν (thanksgivings) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), ¹³ διὰ (through) τῆς (the) δοκιμῆς (proof) τῆς (of the) διακονίας (service) ταύτης (this), δοξάζοντες (they glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) ὑποταγῇ (submission) τῆς (of the) ὁμολογίας (of confession) ὑμῶν (of you) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) τοῦ (-) Χριστοῦ (of Christ) καὶ (and) ἁπλότητι (the generosity) τῆς (of the) κοινωνίας (participation) εἰς (toward) αὐτοὺς (them) καὶ (and) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all); ¹⁴ καὶ (and) αὐτῶν (their) δεήσει (supplication) ὑπὲρ (is for) ὑμῶν (you), ἐπιποθούντων (a longing) ὑμᾶς (for you) διὰ (on account of) τὴν (the) ὑπερβάλλουσαν (surpassing) χάριν (grace) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμῖν (you). ¹⁵ Χάρις (Thanks be) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God) ἐπὶ (for) τῇ (the) ἀνεκδιηγήτῳ (indescribable) αὐτοῦ (of Him) δωρεᾷ (gift)!
