¹⁴ ἀλλὰ (But) ἐνδύσασθε (put on) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστόν (Christ), καὶ (and) τῆς (of the) σαρκὸς (flesh) πρόνοιαν (provision) μὴ (not) ποιεῖσθε (make) εἰς (for) ἐπιθυμίας (desires).

¹³ μηδὲ (Neither) παριστάνετε (yield) τὰ (the) μέλη (members) ὑμῶν (of you) ὅπλα (as instruments) ἀδικίας (of unrighteousness) τῇ (-) ἁμαρτίᾳ (to sin), ἀλλὰ (but) παραστήσατε (yield) ἑαυτοὺς (yourselves) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God), ὡσεὶ (as) ἐκ (out from) νεκρῶν (the dead) ζῶντας (living), καὶ (and) τὰ (the) μέλη (members) ὑμῶν (of you), ὅπλα (as instruments) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness) τῷ (-) Θεῷ (to God).

²⁷ ἀλλὰ (But) ὑπωπιάζω (I batter) μου (of me) τὸ (the) σῶμα (body) καὶ (and) δουλαγωγῶ (bring it into servitude), μή (not) πως (hardly) ἄλλοις (to others) κηρύξας (having preached), αὐτὸς (myself) ἀδόκιμος (disqualified) γένωμαι (I might be).

³ Τῇ (To the) γυναικὶ (wife), ὁ (the) ἀνὴρ (husband) τὴν (the) ὀφειλὴν (duty) ἀποδιδότω (let fulfill); ὁμοίως (likewise) δὲ (now) καὶ (also), ἡ (the) γυνὴ (wife) τῷ (to the) ἀνδρί (husband). ⁴ ἡ (The) γυνὴ (wife), τοῦ (the) ἰδίου (own) σώματος (body) οὐκ (not) ἐξουσιάζει (has authority over), ἀλλὰ (but) ὁ (the) ἀνήρ (husband); ὁμοίως (likewise) δὲ (now), καὶ (also) ὁ (the) ἀνὴρ (husband) τοῦ (of the) ἰδίου (own) σώματος (body) οὐκ (not) ἐξουσιάζει (has authority over), ἀλλὰ (but) ἡ (the) γυνή (wife). ⁵ Μὴ (Not) ἀποστερεῖτε (deprive) ἀλλήλους (one another), εἰ (if) μήτι (not) ἂν (-) ἐκ (by) συμφώνου (mutual agreement), πρὸς (for) καιρὸν (a time), ἵνα (that) σχολάσητε (you might be at leisure) τῇ (-) προσευχῇ (for prayer); καὶ (and) πάλιν (again), ἐπὶ (together) τὸ (the) αὐτὸ (same) ἦτε (be), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) πειράζῃ (may tempt) ὑμᾶς (you) ὁ (-) Σατανᾶς (Satan), διὰ (through) τὴν (the) ἀκρασίαν (lack of self-control) ὑμῶν (of you).

⁵ Νεκρώσατε (Put to death) οὖν (therefore) τὰ (the) μέλη (members) τὰ (which are) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth): πορνείαν (sexual immorality), ἀκαθαρσίαν (impurity), πάθος (passion), ἐπιθυμίαν (desire) κακήν (evil), καὶ (and) τὴν (-) πλεονεξίαν (covetousness), ἥτις (which) ἐστὶν (is) εἰδωλολατρία (idolatry),

¹³ Μηδεὶς (No one) πειραζόμενος (being tempted) λεγέτω (let say) ὅτι (-), “Ἀπὸ (By) Θεοῦ (God) πειράζομαι (I am being tempted).” ὁ (-) γὰρ (For) Θεὸς (God) ἀπείραστός (unable to be tempted) ἐστιν (is) κακῶν (by evils); πειράζει (tempts) δὲ (now) αὐτὸς (He Himself) οὐδένα (no one). ¹⁴ ἕκαστος (A man) δὲ (however) πειράζεται (is tempted), ὑπὸ (by) τῆς (the) ἰδίας (own) ἐπιθυμίας (desire) ἐξελκόμενος (being drawn away) καὶ (and) δελεαζόμενος (being enticed).

²⁸ ἐγὼ (I) δὲ (however) λέγω (say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) πᾶς (everyone) ὁ (-) βλέπων (looking upon) γυναῖκα (a woman) πρὸς (in order) τὸ (-) ἐπιθυμῆσαι (to lust after) αὐτὴν (her) ἤδη (already) ἐμοίχευσεν (has committed adultery with) αὐτὴν (her) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) καρδίᾳ (heart) αὐτοῦ (of him).

¹⁹ Φανερὰ (Evident) δέ (now) ἐστιν (are) τὰ (the) ἔργα (works) τῆς (of the) σαρκός (flesh), ἅτινά (which) ἐστιν (are) πορνεία (sexual immorality), ἀκαθαρσία (impurity), ἀσέλγεια (sensuality), ²⁰ εἰδωλολατρία (idolatry), φαρμακεία (sorcery), ἔχθραι (enmities), ἔρις (strife), ζῆλος (jealousy), θυμοί (outbursts of anger), ἐριθεῖαι (contentions), διχοστασίαι (dissensions), αἱρέσεις (factions), ²¹ φθόνοι (envyings), μέθαι (drunkennesses), κῶμοι (carousing), καὶ (and) τὰ (things) ὅμοια (like) τούτοις (these), ἃ (as to which) προλέγω (I forewarn) ὑμῖν (you), καθὼς (even as) προεῖπον (I warned before), ὅτι (that) οἱ (those) τὰ (such) τοιαῦτα (things) πράσσοντες (doing), βασιλείαν (kingdom) Θεοῦ (God’s) οὐ (not) κληρονομήσουσιν (will inherit).

¹⁸ Φεύγετε (Flee) τὴν (-) πορνείαν (sexual immorality). πᾶν (Every) ἁμάρτημα (sin), ὃ (whatever) ἐὰν (if) ποιήσῃ (might do) ἄνθρωπος (a man), ἐκτὸς (outside) τοῦ (the) σώματός (body) ἐστιν (is); ὁ (the one) δὲ (however) πορνεύων (sinning sexually), εἰς (against) τὸ (the) ἴδιον (own) σῶμα (body) ἁμαρτάνει (sins).

³ Τοῦτο (This) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) θέλημα (the will) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (the) ἁγιασμὸς (sanctification) ὑμῶν (of you): ἀπέχεσθαι (To abstain) ὑμᾶς (you are) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (-) πορνείας (sexual immorality); ⁴ εἰδέναι (to know) ἕκαστον (each) ὑμῶν (of you how) τὸ (the) ἑαυτοῦ (of himself) σκεῦος (vessel) κτᾶσθαι (to control) ἐν (in) ἁγιασμῷ (holiness) καὶ (and) τιμῇ (honor), ⁵ μὴ (not) ἐν (in) πάθει (the passion) ἐπιθυμίας (of lust), καθάπερ (as) καὶ (also) τὰ (the) ἔθνη (Gentiles), τὰ (-) μὴ (not) εἰδότα (knowing) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God);

¹⁴ ἕκαστος (A man) δὲ (however) πειράζεται (is tempted), ὑπὸ (by) τῆς (the) ἰδίας (own) ἐπιθυμίας (desire) ἐξελκόμενος (being drawn away) καὶ (and) δελεαζόμενος (being enticed). ¹⁵ εἶτα (Then) ἡ (-) ἐπιθυμία (desire), συλλαβοῦσα (having conceived), τίκτει (gives birth to) ἁμαρτίαν (sin); ἡ (-) δὲ (and) ἁμαρτία (sin) ἀποτελεσθεῖσα (having become fully grown), ἀποκύει (brings forth) θάνατον (death).

¹¹ Ἀγαπητοί (Beloved), παρακαλῶ (I exhort you) ὡς (as) παροίκους (aliens) καὶ (and) παρεπιδήμους (sojourners), ἀπέχεσθαι (to abstain) τῶν (from) σαρκικῶν (fleshly) ἐπιθυμιῶν (desires), αἵτινες (which) στρατεύονται (war) κατὰ (against) τῆς (the) ψυχῆς (soul),

¹³ πειρασμὸς (Temptation) ὑμᾶς (you) οὐκ (not) εἴληφεν (has seized), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) ἀνθρώπινος (what is common to man); πιστὸς (faithful) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Θεός (is God), ὃς (who) οὐκ (not) ἐάσει (will allow) ὑμᾶς (you) πειρασθῆναι (to be tempted) ὑπὲρ (beyond) ὃ (what) δύνασθε (you are able), ἀλλὰ (but) ποιήσει (will provide), σὺν (with) τῷ (the) πειρασμῷ (temptation), καὶ (also) τὴν (the) ἔκβασιν (escape), τοῦ (-) δύνασθαι (to be able) ὑπενεγκεῖν (to endure it).
