³⁸ Πέτρος (Peter) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Μετανοήσατε (Repent),” [φησίν] (he declared), “Καὶ (and) βαπτισθήτω (be baptized), ἕκαστος (every one) ὑμῶν (of you), ἐπὶ (in) τῷ (the) ὀνόματι (name) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) εἰς (for the) ἄφεσιν (forgiveness) τῶν (of the) ἁμαρτιῶν (sins) ὑμῶν (of you), καὶ (and) λήμψεσθε (you will receive) τὴν (the) δωρεὰν (gift) τοῦ (of the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit).

¹⁹ ὧν (whose) τὸ (-) τέλος (end is) ἀπώλεια (destruction), ὧν (whose) ὁ (-) θεὸς (God is) ἡ (the) κοιλία (belly), καὶ (and) ἡ (-) δόξα (glory) ἐν (is in) τῇ (the) αἰσχύνῃ (shame) αὐτῶν (of them), οἱ (those) τὰ (things) ἐπίγεια (earthly) φρονοῦντες (minding).

⁹ ἰδοὺ (Behold), διδῶ (I give) ἐκ (those from) τῆς (the) συναγωγῆς (synagogue) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan)— τῶν (those) λεγόντων (declaring) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves) Ἰουδαίους (Jews) εἶναι (to be), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) εἰσὶν (are), ἀλλὰ (but) ψεύδονται (they lie)— ἰδοὺ (behold), ποιήσω (I will cause) αὐτοὺς (them) ἵνα (that) ἥξουσιν (they will come) καὶ (and) προσκυνήσουσιν (will worship) ἐνώπιον (before) τῶν (the) ποδῶν (feet) σου (of you), καὶ (and) γνῶσιν (they shall know) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἠγάπησά (have loved) σε (you).

³⁰ Ὑπολαβὼν (Having taken it up), ‹δὲ› (then) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said), “Ἄνθρωπός (A man) τις (certain) κατέβαινεν (was going down) ἀπὸ (from) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) εἰς (to) Ἰεριχὼ (Jericho), καὶ (and) λῃσταῖς (robbers) περιέπεσεν (fell among), οἳ (who) καὶ (both) ἐκδύσαντες (having stripped) αὐτὸν (him), καὶ (and) πληγὰς (wounds) ἐπιθέντες (having inflicted), ἀπῆλθον (went away), ἀφέντες (having left him) ἡμιθανῆ (half dead). ³¹ Κατὰ (By) συγκυρίαν (chance) δὲ (now) ἱερεύς (a priest) τις (certain) κατέβαινεν (was going down) ἐν (on) τῇ (the) ὁδῷ (road) ἐκείνῃ (that), καὶ (and) ἰδὼν (having seen) αὐτὸν (him) ἀντιπαρῆλθεν (he passed by on the opposite side). ³² Ὁμοίως (Likewise) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) Λευίτης (a Levite) [γενόμενος] (having come) κατὰ (to) τὸν (the) τόπον (spot), ἐλθὼν (having come) καὶ (and) ἰδὼν (having seen him), ἀντιπαρῆλθεν (passed by on the opposite side). ³³ Σαμαρίτης (A Samaritan) δέ (however), τις (one) ὁδεύων (journeying), ἦλθεν (came) κατ’ (to) αὐτὸν (him), καὶ (and) ἰδὼν (having seen) ἐσπλαγχνίσθη (was moved with compassion), ³⁴ καὶ (and) προσελθὼν (having approached), κατέδησεν (he bound up) τὰ (the) τραύματα (wounds) αὐτοῦ (of him), ἐπιχέων (pouring on) ἔλαιον (oil) καὶ (and) οἶνον (wine); ἐπιβιβάσας (having put) δὲ (then) αὐτὸν (him) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) ἴδιον (own) κτῆνος (beast), ἤγαγεν (he brought) αὐτὸν (him) εἰς (to) πανδοχεῖον (an inn) καὶ (and) ἐπεμελήθη (took care) αὐτοῦ (of him). ³⁵ Καὶ (And) ἐπὶ (on) τὴν (the) αὔριον (next day), ἐκβαλὼν (having taken out) «δύο (two) δηνάρια» (denarii), ἔδωκεν (he gave them) τῷ (to the) πανδοχεῖ (innkeeper) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), ‘Ἐπιμελήθητι (Take care) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ὅ (whatever) τι (more) ἂν (-) προσδαπανήσῃς (you might expend), ἐγὼ (of me) ἐν (on) τῷ (-) ἐπανέρχεσθαί (returning), με (I) ἀποδώσω (will repay) σοι (you).’ ³⁶ Τίς (Which) τούτων (of these) τῶν (-) τριῶν (three) πλησίον (a neighbor) δοκεῖ (seems) σοι (to you) γεγονέναι (to have been) τοῦ (of the one) ἐμπεσόντος (having fallen) εἰς (among) τοὺς (the) λῃστάς (robbers)?” ³⁷ Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπεν (he said), “Ὁ (The one) ποιήσας (having shown) τὸ (-) ἔλεος (compassion) μετ’ (toward) αὐτοῦ (him).” Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) αὐτῷ (to him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Πορεύου (Go) καὶ (and) σὺ (you) ποίει (do) ὁμοίως (likewise).”

⁸ ἀλλὰ (But) λήμψεσθε (you will receive) δύναμιν (power), ἐπελθόντος (having come) τοῦ (the) Ἁγίου (Holy) Πνεύματος (Spirit) ἐφ’ (upon) ὑμᾶς (you), καὶ (and) ἔσεσθέ (you will be) μου (for Me) μάρτυρες (witnesses), ἔν (in) τε (both) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) πάσῃ (all) τῇ (-) Ἰουδαίᾳ (Judea), καὶ (and) Σαμαρείᾳ (Samaria), καὶ (and) ἕως (to) ἐσχάτου (the uttermost part) τῆς (of the) γῆς (earth).”

⁹ Οἶδά (I know) σου (your) τὴν (-) θλῖψιν (tribulation) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) πτωχείαν (poverty) — ἀλλὰ (but) πλούσιος (rich) εἶ (you are) — καὶ (and) τὴν (the) βλασφημίαν (slander) ἐκ (of) τῶν (those) λεγόντων (claiming) Ἰουδαίους (Jews) εἶναι (to be) ἑαυτούς (themselves), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) εἰσίν (are), ἀλλὰ (but) συναγωγὴ (a synagogue) τοῦ (-) Σατανᾶ (of Satan).

²⁷ Ἠσαΐας (Isaiah) δὲ (also) κράζει (cries out) ὑπὲρ (concerning) τοῦ (-) Ἰσραήλ (Israel): “Ἐὰν (Though) ᾖ (shall be) ὁ (the) ἀριθμὸς (number) τῶν (of the) υἱῶν (sons) Ἰσραὴλ (of Israel) ὡς (as) ἡ (the) ἄμμος (sand) τῆς (of the) θαλάσσης (sea), τὸ (only the) ὑπόλειμμα (remnant) σωθήσεται (will be saved).

¹⁶ Οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ἐπαισχύνομαι (I am ashamed of) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel), δύναμις (the power) γὰρ (for) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐστιν (it is), εἰς (unto) σωτηρίαν (salvation) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) πιστεύοντι (believing)— Ἰουδαίῳ (to Jewish) τε (both) πρῶτον (first) καὶ (and) Ἕλληνι (to Greek).

²⁸ Οὐ (Not) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the one) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) φανερῷ (outward) Ἰουδαῖός (a Jew) ἐστιν (is); οὐδὲ (neither) ἡ (the one) ἐν (outwardly), τῷ (the) φανερῷ (outward) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (flesh), περιτομή (is circumcision);

¹² οὐ (Not) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (there is) διαστολὴ (difference) Ἰουδαίου (Jew) τε (between) καὶ (and) Ἕλληνος (Greek); ὁ (-) γὰρ (for) αὐτὸς (the same) Κύριος (Lord) πάντων (of all) πλουτῶν (is rich) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (those) ἐπικαλουμένους (calling) αὐτόν (Him). ¹³ “Πᾶς (Whoever) γὰρ (for) ὃς (that) ἂν (-) ἐπικαλέσηται (shall call upon) τὸ (the) ὄνομα (name) Κυρίου (of the Lord) σωθήσεται (will be saved).” ¹⁴ Πῶς (How) οὖν (then) ἐπικαλέσωνται (shall they call) εἰς (on Him) ὃν (whom) οὐκ (not) ἐπίστευσαν (they believed)? πῶς (How) δὲ (now) πιστεύσωσιν (shall they believe on Him) οὗ (of whom) οὐκ (not) ἤκουσαν (they have heard)? πῶς (How) δὲ (now) ἀκούσωσιν (shall they hear) χωρὶς (apart from) κηρύσσοντος (preaching)?

²⁸ οὐκ (Neither) ἔνι (there is) Ἰουδαῖος (Jew) οὐδὲ (nor) Ἕλλην (Greek); οὐκ (neither) ἔνι (there is) δοῦλος (slave) οὐδὲ (nor) ἐλεύθερος (free); οὐκ (neither) ἔνι (there is) ἄρσεν (male) καὶ (and) θῆλυ (female); πάντες (all) γὰρ (for) ὑμεῖς (you) εἷς (one) ἐστε (are) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus).
