²¹ Jesus said to him, If you have a desire to be complete, go, get money for your property, and give it to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven: and come after me.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Take care to keep yourselves free from the desire for property; for a man's life is not made up of the number of things which he has.

³ You make your request but you do not get it, because your request has been wrongly made, desiring the thing only so that you may make use of it for your pleasure.

⁵ Be free from the love of money and pleased with the things which you have; for he himself has said, I will be with you at all times.

¹⁹ Make no store of wealth for yourselves on earth, where it may be turned to dust by worms and weather, and where thieves may come in by force and take it away. ²⁰ But make a store for yourselves in heaven, where it will not be turned to dust and where thieves do not come in to take it away: ²¹ For where your wealth is, there will your heart be.

¹ A Song of the going up. Of Solomon. If the Lord is not helping the builders, then the building of a house is to no purpose: if the Lord does not keep the town, the watchman keeps his watch for nothing. ² It is of no use for you to get up early, and to go late to your rest, with the bread of sorrow for your food; for the Lord gives to his loved ones in sleep. ³ See, sons are a heritage from the Lord; the fruit of the body is his reward. ⁴ Like arrows in the hand of a man of war, are the children of the young. ⁵ Happy is the man who has a good store of them; he will not be put to shame, but his cause will be supported by them against his haters.
