¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the broken hearted; to proclaim liberty to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; to set free the oppressed;

⁹ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

³⁵ For I was hungry, and you gave me food; I was thirsty, and you gave- me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me to your houses; ³⁶ naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and feed thee? or thirsty, and give thee drink? ³⁸ When did we see thee a stranger, and take thee to our home? or naked, and clothe thee? ³⁹ When did we see thee sick, or in prison, and come to thee? ⁴⁰ And the King will answer and say to them: Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me. ⁴¹ Then will he say to those on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. ⁴² For I was hungry, and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and you took me not to your houses; naked, and you did not clothe me; I was sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me. ⁴⁴ Then they also will answer, and say: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? ⁴⁵ Then will he answer them, saying: Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me. ⁴⁶ And these shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

³ Remember those who are in bonds, as if you yourselves had been bound, and those who suffer affliction, since you yourselves are in the body.
