³³ And there was in the synagogue a man who had the spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice, ³⁴ saying: Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Nazarene? Hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. ³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying: Be silent, and come out of him. And the demon threw him into the midst, and came out of him, and hurt him not. ³⁶ And amazement came upon all, and they spoke one to another, saying: "What teaching is this? for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.

¹⁷ And one of the multitude answered and said: Teacher, I brought to you my son, who has a dumb spirit. ¹⁸ And wherever it seizes him, it throws him into convulsions; and he foams, and gnashes with his teeth, and pines away: and I spoke to your disciples to cast him out, and they were not able. ¹⁹ And he answered them, and said: faithless generation! how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me. ²⁰ And they brought him to him. And when he saw him, the spirit immediately threw him into convulsions; and he fell on the ground, and rolled himself, foaming. ²¹ And he asked his father: How long is it since this came upon him? He replied: From childhood. ²² And often it throws him into the fire, and into the water, to destroy him. But if you are able to do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. ²³ Jesus said to him: If you are able to believe, all things are possible to him that believes. ²⁴ And immediately the father of the child cried out, and with tears said: Lord, I believe; help my unbelief. ²⁵ When Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, and said to it: Dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and enter into him no more. ²⁶ And the spirit cried out, and threw him into strong convulsions, and came out of him; and he was like one dead, so that many said: He is dead. ²⁷ But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up, and he arose. ²⁸ And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately: Why were we not able to cast it out? ²⁹ And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

⁸ For he had said to him: Unclean spirit, come out of the man.

⁴² And while he was coming, the demon cast him to the ground, and threw him into convulsions; but Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and restored the child to health, and gave him back to his father.

¹⁷ And the seventy returned with joy, and said: Lord, even the demons are subject to us through thy name.

⁴⁹ And John answered and said: Master, we saw a certain one casting out demons in thy name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him: Forbid him not; for whoever is not against us, is for us.

²⁰ But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, then has the kingdom of God already come upon you.

¹⁸ And this she continued to do for many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit: I command you, in the name of Jesus Christ, to come out of her. And it came out that very hour.

¹² so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried from his body to the sick, and diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits came out of them.

¹³ Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand them in the evil day, and having overcome them all, to stand firm.

⁷ Submit yourselves, therefore, to God; resist the devil, and he will flee from you;

¹⁸ For Christ also once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, having been put to death in flesh, but made alive in spirit; ¹⁹ in which- also he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who formerly were disobedient, when the long-suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while an ark was preparing, in which few, that is, eight souls, were brought in safety through the water; ²¹ the likeness of which, even immersion, (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the seeking of a good conscience toward God,) does now also save us, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, ²² who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having become subject to him.

¹³ And Jesus immediately gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the swine; and the herd (they were about two thousand,) rushed down a steep place into the sea, and were strangled in the sea.

³⁸ And John answered him and said: Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he does not follow us: and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.

¹⁵ But the evil spirit answered and said: Jesus I acknowledge, and Paul I know; but who are you?

¹¹ Mighty deeds, also, that were unusual, did God perform by the hands of Paul; ¹² so that handkerchiefs or aprons were carried from his body to the sick, and diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits came out of them.

¹⁹ Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

¹⁰ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in his mighty power. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the wiles of the devil: ¹² for our conflict is not with flesh and blood, but with the principalities, with the authorities, with the rulers of the darkness of this world, with the wicked spirits in the heavenly regions. ¹³ Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand them in the evil day, and having overcome them all, to stand firm. ¹⁴ Stand, therefore, having your loins girded about with truth, and wearing the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and having your feet shod with that preparation for defense supplied by the gospel of peace; ¹⁶ taking up, over all, the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one: ¹⁷ and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ praying with all prayer and supplication, at all times, in the Spirit; and to this end being watchful in all perseverance, and supplication for all the saints:

⁸ Be sober, be watchful: for your adversary, the devil, like a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.

¹⁶ He that believes and is immersed, shall be saved; he that believes not, shall be condemned. ¹⁷ And these signs shall attend those who believe. In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; ¹⁸ they shall take up serpents; and, if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
