²³ But come what may, [said he], I will run. And he said unto him, Run. Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the Plain, and outran the Cushite.

⁵ Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
And rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.

⁷ They run like mighty men; they climb the wall like men of war; and they march every one on his ways, and they break not their ranks.

²⁴ Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. ²⁵ And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they [do it] to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: ²⁷ but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

²⁹ For by thee I run upon a troop;
And by my God do I leap over a wall.

³² I will run the way of thy commandments,
When thou shalt enlarge my heart.

² And Jehovah answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, that he may run that readeth it.

¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which [the Lord] promised to them that love him.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:

¹ Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

¹² Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing [I do], forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before. ¹⁴ I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

⁷ Ye were running well; who hindered you that ye should not obey the truth?

²⁶ I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air:

¹³ But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

³¹ but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.

¹ Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, ² looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

³ And not only so, but we also rejoice in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation worketh stedfastness; ⁴ and stedfastness, approvedness; and approvedness, hope:

²⁴ Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain.
