¹² And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my hire; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my hire thirty [pieces] of silver.

¹⁸ And as they sat and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you shall betray me, [even] he that eateth with me. ¹⁹ They began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? ²⁰ And he said unto them, { [It is] one of the twelve, he that dippeth with me in the dish. ²¹ For the Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born.}

⁴⁷ And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he: take him. ⁴⁹ And straightway he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Rabbi; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Friend, [do] that for which thou art come. Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

³ Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, ⁴ saying, I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood. But they said, What is that to us? see thou [to it]. ⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver into the sanctuary, and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.

²¹ and as they were eating, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. ²² And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began to say unto him every one, Is it I, Lord? ²³ And he answered and said, { He that dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me. ²⁴ The Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born.} ²⁵ And Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Is it I, Rabbi? He saith unto him, Thou hast said.

¹⁶ Brethren, it was needful that the scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spake before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to them that took Jesus.

²⁷ And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly.

² Now Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus oft-times resorted thither with his disciples. ³ Judas then, having received the band [of soldiers], and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons. ⁴ Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon him, went forth, and saith unto them, Whom seek ye? ⁵ They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am [he]. And Judas also, who betrayed him, was standing with them.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, ¹⁵ and said, What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they weighed unto him thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ And from that time he sought opportunity to deliver him [unto them].

² And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son], to betray him,

³ And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. ⁴ And he went away, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might deliver him unto them. ⁵ And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. ⁶ And he consented, and sought opportunity to deliver him unto them in the absence of the multitude.

⁶ Now this he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the bag took away what was put therein.

¹² While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled: He that eateth my bread lifted up his heel against me. ¹⁹ From henceforth I tell you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am [he]. ²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.}
²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. ²² The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. ²³ There was at the table reclining in Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. ²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell [us] who it is of whom he speaketh. ²⁵ He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? ²⁶ Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, [the son] of Simon Iscariot.

¹⁸ (Now this man obtained a field with the reward of his iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Let his habitation be made desolate,
And let no man dwell therein:
and,
His office let another take. ²¹ Of the men therefore that have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us, ²² beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day that he was received up from us, of these must one become a witness with us of his resurrection. ²³ And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. ²⁴ And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show of these two the one whom thou hast chosen, ²⁵ to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.

⁴ But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, that should betray him, saith, ⁵ Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred shillings, and given to the poor? ⁶ Now this he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the bag took away what was put therein.

⁶⁷ Jesus said therefore unto the twelve, Would ye also go away? ⁶⁸ Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we have believed and know that thou art the Holy One of God. ⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ Now he spake of Judas [the son] of Simon Iscariot, for he it was that should betray him, [being] one of the twelve.

⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver into the sanctuary, and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.

⁴³ And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. ⁴⁴ Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely. ⁴⁵ And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him.

⁹ Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
Who did eat of my bread,
Hath lifted up his heel against me.
