¹ The words of king Lemuel; the oracle which his mother taught him.
² What, my son? and what, O son of my womb?
And what, O son of my vows? ³ Give not thy strength unto women,
Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. ⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine;
Nor for princes [to say], Where is strong drink? ⁵ Lest they drink, and forget the law,
And pervert the justice [due] to any that is afflicted. ⁶ Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish,
And wine unto the bitter in soul: ⁷ Let him drink, and forget his poverty,
And remember his misery no more. ⁸ Open thy mouth for the dumb,
In the cause of all such as are left desolate. ⁹ Open thy mouth, judge righteously,
And minister justice to the poor and needy.
¹⁰ A worthy woman who can find?
For her price is far above rubies. ¹¹ The heart of her husband trusteth in her,
And he shall have no lack of gain. ¹² She doeth him good and not evil
All the days of her life. ¹³ She seeketh wool and flax,
And worketh willingly with her hands. ¹⁴ She is like the merchant-ships;
She bringeth her bread from afar. ¹⁵ She riseth also while it is yet night,
And giveth food to her household,
And their task to her maidens. ¹⁶ She considereth a field, and buyeth it;
With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. ¹⁷ She girdeth her loins with strength,
And maketh strong her arms. ¹⁸ She perceiveth that her merchandise is profitable;
Her lamp goeth not out by night. ¹⁹ She layeth her hands to the distaff,
And her hands hold the spindle. ²⁰ She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
Yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. ²¹ She is not afraid of the snow for her household;
For all her household are clothed with scarlet. ²² She maketh for herself carpets of tapestry;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple. ²³ Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sitteth among the elders of the land. ²⁴ She maketh linen garments and selleth them,
And delivereth girdles unto the merchant. ²⁵ Strength and dignity are her clothing;
And she laugheth at the time to come. ²⁶ She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
And the law of kindness is on her tongue. ²⁷ She looketh well to the ways of her household,
And eateth not the bread of idleness. ²⁸ Her children rise up, and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praiseth her, saying: ²⁹ Many daughters have done worthily,
But thou excellest them all. ³⁰ Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
[But] a woman that feareth Jehovah, she shall be praised. ³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands;
And let her works praise her in the gates.

⁴ We must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

¹² and it will come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they will say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ meekness, self-control; against such there is no law. ²⁴ And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

¹ That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we beheld, and our hands handled, concerning the Word of life

² that aged men be temperate, grave, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, in patience: ³ that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; ⁴ that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

³ Thou shalt also be a crown of beauty in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

²⁵ Strength and dignity are her clothing;
And she laugheth at the time to come.

¹ Faithful is the saying, If a man seeketh the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. ² The bishop therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, orderly, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ³ no brawler, no striker; but gentle, not contentious, no lover of money; ⁴ one that ruleth well his own house, having [his] children in subjection with all gravity; ⁵ (but if a man knoweth not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) ⁶ not a novice, lest being puffed up he fall into the condemnation of the devil. ⁷ Moreover he must have good testimony from them that are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. ⁸ Deacons in like manner [must be] grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; ⁹ holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. ¹⁰ And let these also first be proved; then let them serve as deacons, if they be blameless. ¹¹ Women in like manner [must be] grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. ¹² Let deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling [their] children and their own houses well. ¹³ For they that have served well as deacons gain to themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
¹⁴ These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly; ¹⁵ but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how men ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. ¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; He who was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the spirit, Seen of angels, Preached among the nations, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.

³ But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

¹⁰ A worthy woman who can find?
