³¹ Let him not trust in vanity, deceiving himself;
For vanity shall be his recompense. ³² It shall be accomplished before his time,
And his branch shall not be green.

⁷ For he is our God,
And we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
To-day, oh that ye would hear his voice! ⁸ Harden not your heart, as at Meribah,
As in the day of Massah in the wilderness; ⁹ When your fathers tempted me,
Proved me, and saw my work. ¹⁰ Forty years long was I grieved with [that] generation,
And said, It is a people that do err in their heart,
And they have not known my ways: ¹¹ Wherefore I sware in my wrath,
That they should not enter into my rest.

¹¹ For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.

¹⁵ Give diligence to present thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, handling aright the word of truth.

⁵ For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, [himself] man, Christ Jesus,

²⁴ The unclean spirit when he is gone out of the man, passeth through waterless places, seeking rest, and finding none, he saith, I will turn back unto my house whence I came out.

³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, ²⁰ idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, ²¹ envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

¹² There is a way which seemeth right unto a man;
But the end thereof are the ways of death.

⁸ But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

¹ I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: ² preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. ³ For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; ⁴ and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. ⁵ But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.

²⁸ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Jehovah is my shepherd; I shall not want. ² He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside still waters. ³ He restoreth my soul:
He guideth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. ⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. ⁵ Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou hast anointed my head with oil;
My cup runneth over. ⁶ Surely goodness and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of Jehovah for ever.
