⁴³ Thou shalt not rule over him with rigor, but shalt fear thy God.

¹⁴ Thou shalt not oppress a hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy sojourners that are in thy land within thy gates:

¹⁰ And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received every man a shilling. ¹¹ And when they received it, they murmured against the householder, ¹² saying, These last have spent [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat. ¹³ But he answered and said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a shilling? ¹⁴ Take up that which is thine, and go thy way; it is my will to give unto this last, even as unto thee. ¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? or is thine eye evil, because I am good?

⁷ And in that same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

¹ Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the [powers] that be are ordained of God. ² Therefore he that resisteth the power, withstandeth the ordinance of God: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And wouldest thou have no fear of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise from the same: ⁴ for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil. ⁵ Wherefore [ye] must needs be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience' sake. ⁶ For this cause ye pay tribute also; for they are ministers of God's service, attending continually upon this very thing. ⁷ Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
⁸ Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law. ⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. ¹⁰ Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.
¹¹ And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we [first] believed. ¹² The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].

⁴ for he is a minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him that doeth evil.

¹⁸ For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn. And, The laborer is worthy of his hire.

⁵ Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.

²² Servants, obey in all things them that are your masters according to the flesh; not with eye-service, as men-pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord:

⁸ But if any provideth not for his own, and specially his own household, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.

¹³ Thou shalt not oppress thy neighbor, nor rob him: the wages of a hired servant shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

¹³ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; that useth his neighbor's service without wages, and giveth him not his hire;

⁵ And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the sojourner [from his right], and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁶ He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [gain],
[And] he that giveth to the rich, [shall come] only to want.

⁹ And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, and forbear threatening: knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with him.

⁴ Now to him that worketh, the reward is not reckoned as of grace, but as of debt.

¹⁸ Servants, [be] in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. ¹⁹ For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted [for it], ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer [for it], ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

²³ whatsoever ye do, work heartily, as unto the Lord, and not unto men;

¹ Masters, render unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
