³ And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, ⁴ To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, ⁵ And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

⁴ Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ⁵ Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations. ⁶ Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. ⁷ But the LORD said to me, Say not, I am a child: for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatever I command you you shall speak. ⁸ Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with you to deliver you, said the LORD. ⁹ Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. ¹⁰ See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant. ¹¹ Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what see you? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. ¹² Then said the LORD to me, You have well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. ¹³ And the word of the LORD came to me the second time, saying, What see you? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north. ¹⁴ Then the LORD said to me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land. ¹⁵ For, see, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, said the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah. ¹⁶ And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands. ¹⁷ You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command you: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound you before them. ¹⁸ For, behold, I have made you this day a defended city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land. ¹⁹ And they shall fight against you; but they shall not prevail against you; for I am with you, said the LORD, to deliver you.

¹ Take heed that you do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise you have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. ² Therefore when you do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. ³ But when you do alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does: ⁴ That your alms may be in secret: and your Father which sees in secret himself shall reward you openly. ⁵ And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. ⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly. ⁷ But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. ⁸ Be not you therefore like to them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him. ⁹ After this manner therefore pray you: Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be your name. ¹⁰ Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. ¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread. ¹² And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. ¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For your is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. ¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. ¹⁶ Moreover when you fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. ¹⁷ But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; ¹⁸ That you appear not to men to fast, but to your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly. ¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: ²¹ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. ²² The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light. ²³ But if your eye be evil, your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness! ²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. ²⁵ Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? ²⁶ Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? ²⁷ Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature? ²⁸ And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: ²⁹ And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ³⁰ Why, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? ³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. ³³ But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. ³⁴ Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.

¹⁴ Let all your things be done with charity.

¹⁰ And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD has commanded;

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. ¹⁵ Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house. ¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

¹⁰ As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no ficklenss, neither shadow of turning.

¹⁴ For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods. ¹⁵ And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. ¹⁶ Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. ¹⁸ But he that had received one went and dig in the earth, and hid his lord's money. ¹⁹ After a long time the lord of those servants comes, and reckons with them. ²⁰ And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, you delivered to me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. ²¹ His lord said to him, Well done, you good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord. ²² He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, you delivered to me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. ²³ His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord. ²⁴ Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew you that you are an hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not strewed: ²⁵ And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the earth: see, there you have that is yours. ²⁶ His lord answered and said to him, You wicked and slothful servant, you knew that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strewed: ²⁷ You ought therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received my own with usury. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him which has ten talents. ²⁹ For to every one that has shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that has not shall be taken away even that which he has. ³⁰ And cast you the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
