²¹ Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

¹² For you, LORD, will bless the righteous; with favor will you compass him as with a shield.

²³ The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the middle of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

¹ Him that is weak in the faith receive you, but not to doubtful disputations. ² For one believes that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eats herbs. ³ Let not him that eats despise him that eats not; and let not him which eats not judge him that eats: for God has received him. ⁴ Who are you that judge another man's servant? to his own master he stands or falls. Yes, he shall be held up: for God is able to make him stand. ⁵ One man esteems one day above another: another esteems every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. ⁶ He that regards the day, regards it to the Lord; and he that regards not the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. He that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that eats not, to the Lord he eats not, and gives God thanks. ⁷ For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. ⁸ For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? or why do you set at nothing your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ¹¹ For it is written, As I live, said the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. ¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. ¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. ¹⁵ But if your brother be grieved with your meat, now walk you not charitably. Destroy not him with your meat, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Let not then your good be evil spoken of: ¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. ¹⁸ For he that in these things serves Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. ¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another. ²⁰ For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eats with offense. ²¹ It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak. ²² Have you faith? have it to yourself before God. Happy is he that comdemns not himself in that thing which he allows. ²³ And he that doubts is damned if he eat, because he eats not of faith: for whatever is not of faith is sin.

¹⁹ But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

¹⁸ And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.

¹² Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise him.

¹⁴ Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

¹ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ² I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. ³ Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. ⁴ He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. ⁵ You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; ⁶ Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. ⁸ Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. ⁹ Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; ¹⁰ There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. ¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. ¹² They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. ¹³ You shall tread on the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shall you trample under feet. ¹⁴ Because he has set his love on me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name. ¹⁵ He shall call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.

¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

⁹ Have not I commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be you dismayed: for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

⁸ I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in safety.
