³¹ Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. ³³ But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁷ And Jesus looking on them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided? ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. ⁹ But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your moderation be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. ⁶ Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

²⁶ He that withholds corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be on the head of him that sells it.

²⁷ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it. ²⁸ Say not to your neighbor, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when you have it by you.

²⁴ No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

²¹ Jesus said to him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

¹⁶ And he spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: ¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have much goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry. ²⁰ But God said to him, You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: then whose shall those things be, which you have provided? ²¹ So is he that lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

¹ Go to now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come on you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver is corroded; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days.

⁸ But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
