¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them, ² Speak to the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which you shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. ³ Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven footed, and chews the cud, among the beasts, that shall you eat. ⁴ Nevertheless these shall you not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁵ And the coney, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁶ And the hare, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁷ And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he chews not the cud; he is unclean to you. ⁸ Of their flesh shall you not eat, and their carcass shall you not touch; they are unclean to you. ⁹ These shall you eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall you eat. ¹⁰ And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination to you: ¹¹ They shall be even an abomination to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, but you shall have their carcasses in abomination. ¹² Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination to you. ¹³ And these are they which you shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, ¹⁴ And the vulture, and the kite after his kind; ¹⁵ Every raven after his kind; ¹⁶ And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, ¹⁷ And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, ¹⁸ And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, ¹⁹ And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. ²⁰ All fowls that creep, going on all four, shall be an abomination to you. ²¹ Yet these may you eat of every flying creeping thing that goes on all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap with on the earth; ²² Even these of them you may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. ²³ But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination to you. ²⁴ And for these you shall be unclean: whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the even. ²⁵ And whoever bears ought of the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. ²⁶ The carcasses of every beast which divides the hoof, and is not cloven footed, nor chews the cud, are unclean to you: every one that touches them shall be unclean. ²⁷ And whatever goes on his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean to you: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the even. ²⁸ And he that bears the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean to you. ²⁹ These also shall be unclean to you among the creeping things that creep on the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind, ³⁰ And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

¹⁵ And wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart.

¹⁷ Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

⁷ Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts your works.

¹⁹ If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land:

¹⁴ And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, Listen to me every one of you, and understand: ¹⁵ There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. ¹⁶ If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. ¹⁷ And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable. ¹⁸ And he said to them, Are you so without understanding also? Do you not perceive, that whatever thing from without enters into the man, it cannot defile him; ¹⁹ Because it enters not into his heart, but into the belly, and goes out into the draught, purging all meats? ²⁰ And he said, That which comes out of the man, that defiles the man. ²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, ²² Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: ²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

⁸ But meat commends us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: ⁵ For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.

¹ Him that is weak in the faith receive you, but not to doubtful disputations. ² For one believes that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eats herbs. ³ Let not him that eats despise him that eats not; and let not him which eats not judge him that eats: for God has received him. ⁴ Who are you that judge another man's servant? to his own master he stands or falls. Yes, he shall be held up: for God is able to make him stand. ⁵ One man esteems one day above another: another esteems every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. ⁶ He that regards the day, regards it to the Lord; and he that regards not the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. He that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that eats not, to the Lord he eats not, and gives God thanks. ⁷ For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself. ⁸ For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living. ¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? or why do you set at nothing your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. ¹¹ For it is written, As I live, said the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. ¹³ Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. ¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteems any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. ¹⁵ But if your brother be grieved with your meat, now walk you not charitably. Destroy not him with your meat, for whom Christ died. ¹⁶ Let not then your good be evil spoken of: ¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. ¹⁸ For he that in these things serves Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. ¹⁹ Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another. ²⁰ For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eats with offense. ²¹ It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak. ²² Have you faith? have it to yourself before God. Happy is he that comdemns not himself in that thing which he allows. ²³ And he that doubts is damned if he eat, because he eats not of faith: for whatever is not of faith is sin.

³ Every moving thing that lives shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

²⁹ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

³¹ Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
