¹⁹ For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

²¹ That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me.

¹ I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation with which you are called, ² With all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; ³ Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. ⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶ One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. ⁷ But to every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. ⁸ Why he said, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) ¹¹ And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: ¹³ Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:

²⁰ Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

¹⁸ And I say also to you, That you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

⁴ For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: ⁵ So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. ⁶ Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; ⁷ Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching; ⁸ Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness. ⁹ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; hold to that which is good. ¹⁰ Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; ¹¹ Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; ¹² Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; ¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. ¹⁵ Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. ¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. ¹⁷ Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men. ¹⁹ Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, said the Lord. ²⁰ Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. ²¹ Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

¹³ Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

²⁵ And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

²⁰ Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; ²¹ That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. ²² And the glory which you gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: ²³ I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me. ²⁴ Father, I will that they also, whom you have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you loved me before the foundation of the world. ²⁵ O righteous Father, the world has not known you: but I have known you, and these have known that you have sent me. ²⁶ And I have declared to them your name, and will declare it: that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.

⁴ For while one said, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are you not carnal? ⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he that plants any thing, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase.

¹ But speak you the things which become sound doctrine:

⁹ Whoever transgresses, and stays not in the doctrine of Christ, has not God. He that stays in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.

⁶ I marvel that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ to another gospel: ⁷ Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. ⁸ But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. ⁹ As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel to you than that you have received, let him be accursed. ¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

¹² For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. ¹³ For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. ¹⁴ For the body is not one member, but many. ¹⁵ If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁶ And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? ¹⁸ But now has God set the members every one of them in the body, as it has pleased him. ¹⁹ And if they were all one member, where were the body? ²⁰ But now are they many members, yet but one body. ²¹ And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of you: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. ²² No, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: ²³ And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. ²⁴ For our comely parts have no need: but God has tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked. ²⁵ That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. ²⁶ And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. ²⁷ Now you are the body of Christ, and members in particular. ²⁸ And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. ²⁹ Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? ³⁰ Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? ³¹ But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I to you a more excellent way.

⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling; ⁵ One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

¹⁷ Now I beseech you, brothers, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.

¹² Now this I say, that every one of you said, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. ¹³ Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
