Bible verses about "fool" | ACV

Psalms 14:1

1 The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none that does good.

Proverbs 26:3-12

3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools. 4 Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like to him. 5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit. 6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off the feet, and drinks injury. 7 The legs of a lame man hang loose. So is a proverb in the mouth of fools. 8 As he who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool. 9 As a thorn that goes up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a proverb in the mouth of fools. 10 As an archer who wounds all, so is he who hires a fool, and he who hires those who pass by. 11 As a dog who returns to his vomit, is a fool who repeats his folly. 12 See thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope for a fool than of him.

Proverbs 18:7

7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

Proverbs 10:23

23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief, and so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

Proverbs 14:7-9

7 Go into the presence of a foolish man, and thou shall not perceive the lips of knowledge. 8 The wisdom of a prudent man is to understand his way, but the folly of fools is deceit. 9 Fools mock at sin, but among the upright there is good will.

Proverbs 17:28

28 Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is considered wise. When he shuts his lips, he is prudent.

Proverbs 14:16

16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil, but the fool bears himself insolently, and is confident.

Titus 3:1-11

1 Remind them to be submissive to principle offices and positions of authority, to be obedient, to be prepared for every good work, 2 to slander no man, to be noncontentious, gentle, showing all meekness to all men. 3 For we also were formerly foolish, disobedient, being led astray, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in evil and envy, hateful, hating each other. 4 But when the kindness and philanthropy of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not of works in righteousness that we did, but according to his mercy through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 which he poured out upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior. 7 So that, having been made righteous by the grace of that man, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. 8 Faithful is the saying. And I want thee to strongly insist about these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to manage good works. These things are good and beneficial to men. 9 But avoid foolish questionings, and genealogies, and contentions, and legalistic fightings, for they are useless and vain. 10 Shun a factious man after a first and second admonition, 11 knowing that such a man is perverted, and sins, being self-condemned.

Proverbs 28:26

26 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely, he shall be delivered.

Matthew 5:22

22 But I say to you, that every man who is angry at his brother without cause will be liable to the judgment, and whoever speaks an insult to his brother will be liable to the council, and whoever says, Foolish man, will be liable to the hell of fire.

Proverbs 18:6

6 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for stripes.

Proverbs 29:9

9 If a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.

Proverbs 26:19

19 so is the man who deceives his neighbor, and says, Am I not in sport?

Proverbs 29:11

11 A fool utters all his anger, but a wise man keeps it back and calms it.

Proverbs 1:7

7 The fear of LORD is the beginning of knowledge. The foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 18:2

2 A fool has no delight in understanding, but only that his heart may reveal itself.
